Biography
At Cornell
Archer posted a school record 9.9 on vault at the 2012 USAG Collegiate nationals, helping her earn All-America honors for the first time. She finished third during the individual finals with a two vault average of 9.8875. Archer also was the runner-up on beam at the Ivy Classic with a 9.725. She was a three-event starter as a junior, competing on vault, beam and floor. As a sophomore, Archer was a starter on vault, beam and floor in 2011 and won a share of the vault title at the ECAC championships. Her 9.850 score on vault at the Towson Invitational was the team's second-highest of the season and the fourth-best score in school history. Archer was a starter on vault as a freshman and also earned a spot in the lineup on beam and floor during the 2009-10 season. She is a member of the Red Key Honor Society and the 400 Club which recognizes student-athletes with a 4.0 GPA.
Prior to Cornell
A graduate of Newport Harbor HS, she was a Level 10 regional and national competitor. She was the 2009 Southern California State Beam champion and took second on vault. In high school, she was a member of the California Scholarship Federation, received an NHHS Academic Letter and received the NHHS Certificate of Academic Excellence. Nominated by her principal, Archer was one of 12 students who received the Balboa Bay Club Scholarship awarded to students who are dedicated to community, academics and athletics.
Personal
McKenna Maire Archer is the daughter of Joseph Archer and Donna Merrigan and has a younger sister. Archer is enrolled in Cornell’s College of Arts and Sciences.
