Biography
Senior Season — 2013-14Schimenti finished third at the season-ending Ivy League Championships, one shot off the medalist after carding a three-day total of 6-over-par 216 on the Lower Course of Baltusrol Golf Club. In doing so, he became the first Big Red golfer to earn All-Ivy League First Team honors since the league went to its current awards format in 2010. He was also the last Cornell player to finish in the top three at the Ivy League Championships since Kevin Scelfo finished tied for second in 2004. The strong performance was the culmination of another great season for Schimenti, who led the squad with a 73.6 scoring average. He had a team-high finish in four of seven stroke-play events, finishing fifth at the Cornell Invitational, 11th at The Macdonald Cup and 16th at The Met Intercollegiate. He had the team's best individual round of the season, a 2-under 68 in the first round of The Macdonald Cup. He also had a team-high four rounds of even-par (once each at the Cornell Invitational, The Macdonald Cup, the Princeton Invitational and the Ivy League Championships).
Junior Season — 2012-13Schimenti led the team in scoring average (77.0) for a second straight season, also serving as one of the tri-captains. He had the field's best second round in October's Binghamton Invitational, carding a 3-under-par 69 at the Links at Hiawatha Landing. The strong finish vaulted him into a tie for fifth place in the individual portion of the competition and helped the team jump up two spots to eighth. All but two of Schimenti's rounds were counted toward the team score, and he was the team's best scorer in four of seven tournaments. He went posted another red number in the spring with a second-round score of 1-under 70 in the second round of the Princeton Invitational at Springdale Golf Club.
Sophomore Season — 2011-12After not getting any playing time as a freshman, Schimenti proved to be Cornell's best golfer during his sophomore season. His average round of 75.8 was best on the team, and his to-par average of +4.7 was nearly a full stroke better than the rest of the roster. Schimenti went under par once on the year, shooting a one-under 70 in the final round of the Princeton Invitational. Two other times in the season he shot 70s, both even-par scores at the St. Bonaventure Invitational and the Big 5 Invitational. He was Cornell's top finisher at the Ivy League Championship, finishing tied for 17th with a 234.
