Biography

As a junior (2012)
Towne earned first-team All-Ivy accolades for the second time in her career after hitting a team-best .304 while also pacing the squad in doubles (12) and ranking second in hits (42), runs scored (25) and stolen bases (3). She added four home runs and 21 RBI while slugging .478. Towne started 40 games overall, including 19 of 20 Ivy contests. She was even better in league action, batting .353 with seven doubles and 14 RBI. Towne had nine multi-hit games, including a pair of three-hit efforts. She was 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in a win over Liberty and went 3-for-4 with a two runs scored in handing Ivy champ Harvard one of its three league losses. She also drove in the winning run against Princeton in the 14-inning victory that kept Cornell in the divisional title hunt during the final weekend.

As a sophomore (2011)
Towne was named honorable mention All-Ivy as a sophomore after batting .299 with nine doubles, six home runs and 27 RBI. She also led the Ancient Eight with her .997 fielding percentage. Towne posted 10 multi-hit games, including a 3-for-4 game with a home run and five RBI at Liberty and a 4-for-4 day with two doubles and three RBI at Mount St. Mary's. She was named Ivy League Player of the Week once during the season. Her six home runs tied her for seventh among all Ivy players and she also ranked eighth in total bases.

As a freshman (2010)
Towne was a unanimous first-team All-Ivy selection as a utility player after a strong rookie campaign that saw her bat .362 with 10 doubles, three triplew and eight home runs in 43 contests. Her 26 runs and 31 RBI ranked among the team leaders, as did her .669 slugging percentage. Towne tied single-game school records with three doubles against Columbia and three home runs vs. Bethune-Cookman. She was even better once conference play started, batting .455 with a .782 slugging percentage, including eight doubles, two triples and two homers. Her 18 RBI in conference play was second on the team, as was her .466 on-base percentage. Towne also struck out just once in 55 at bats against Ivy opponents. Towne had 11 multi-hit games and was 3-for-4 in her two NCAA tournament games.

At Brecksville-Broadview Heights HS
Towne was a first-team all-state selection as a senior at Becksville-Broadview HS, helping her team to a district title while playing catcher. She was a three-time All-Northeast Ohio and all-league pick, garnering first-team nods as a junior and senior in the conference poll. Towne served as team captain as a senior and lettered all four years of high school. The two-sport star also lettered three times in volleyball as a rightside hitter, helping her team to the state semifinals in 2008. She was a two-time all-league pick on the volleyball courts.

Personal
Kristen Marie Towne is the daughter of Charlie Towne and Jane Bowditch and has an older brother. She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
