Prior to Cornell
Knight was a three-time Iowa state finalist, winning two championships, at 160 and 189 pounds.  He also placed second as a freshman at 152 pounds and third in his final season at 189.  Knight earned All-America honors at several national events, including taking fourth at 189 pounds at the NHSCA Senior Nationals in 2010 and also notching fourth at Junior Nationals in freestyle at 171 pounds the same year. Knight was the recipient of the President’s Academic Citizenship Award and was a four-year honor roll member.  He spent the 2010-11 campaign at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

Personal
Evan Wayne Knight is the son of Steve and Lucy Knight and has a younger brother and sister. His father was a Big 8 Champion and All-American at Iowa State and also served on USA Wrestling's national coaching staff.  He is a communication major.
