As a Senior (2013)
For the second season in a row, Rodriguez was the team's leading point-getter. He finished with 28 points on 6-12 field-goal attempts and 10-12 extra point conversions. His longest field goal of the season came from 45 yards out. His 22 kickoffs traveled a total of 1364 yards, an average of 67.0 yards per kick. His efforts helped him earn Second Team All-CSFL honors at the end of the season.Â
As a Junior (2012)
Rodriguez continued to excel as Cornell's kicker during his junior year, racking up more points than anyone on the roster. He was 7-14 on field goal attempts, including an impressive 4-of-6 performance from 40-49 yards. Rodriguez was also a perfect 15 of 15 on extra-point attempts and kicked the ball off every time for the Big Red. He averaged 55.5 yards per kickoff. Rodriguez, for his stellar season, was named to the All-CSFL First Team and also won Special Teams Player of the Week on Oct. 3.
As a Sophomore (2011)
Rodriguez was the team's only place kicker during the 2011 campaign and its second-leading point scorer. He made six of 11 field goal attempts with a long of 39, and he hit all 24 extra points he attempted. Besides kicking field goals, he also served as the primary kickoff specialist. He took 34 kickoffs and averaged 49.8 yards on each.
Before Cornell
Rodriguez earned 11 varsity letters at North Olmstead. He played football for three years as a placekicker and spent all four years of high school on the soccer and track teams. He was a soccer and track captain.
Personal
John Patrick Rodriguez is the son of Mark and Jackie Rodriguez. He has an older brother, Jim, a younger brother, Tom, and a younger sister, Caitie.
