Biography
Freshman Season — 2011-12
Thierry posted a 5-1 record in her collegiate debut, finishing the season with a national ranking of No. 118, despite the small sample size. She kicked off the season with a three-set victory over Charlotte Edson of St. Lawrence on Dec. 3, then continued to earn spots in the lower portion of the lineup early in the spring semester. In addition to scoring matches, Thierry gained experience by competing in a handful of exhibitions down the stretch.
Prior to Cornell
Thierry competed in varsity squash and soccer and Newton Country Day School. She was a two-time captain for the squash team, going undefeating in the Eastern Independent League her junior and senior seasons. She also helped the soccer team win an EIL title in 2009. Thierry was a member of the National Honor Society and earned a Boston Globe All-Scholastic Award twice.
Personal
Sofia Thierry is the daughter of Nicolas and Victoria Thierry. Her brother, Nick Thierry, also attends Cornell, and she also has a sister. She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
