Biography
Prior To Cornell
Copus rowed for five years at the Abingdon School in Abingdon, UK. He was also a two-time national team member for Great Britain, winning a silver medal in the Great Britain Eight at the 2011 World Junior Championships. As part of the 2011 Abingdon School varsity eight, he won the Schools Head race in London, took silver at the UK National Schools Regatta, and won the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta. Also in 2011, Copus helped Abingdon to win the UK National Schools Regatta, the Great Britain Trials Regatta, and represented Great Britain at the Munich International Regatta – all in the pair – and placed third in junior singles at the Scullers Head on the Tideway in London.
Personal
Jaime Edmund Copus is the son of Martin and Christine Copus. His father was shortlisted as Oxford coxswain for the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race and played field hockey for Great Britain Universities and in the German Bundesliga. His mother played field hockey for the Great Britain U21 squad and was captain of the Hong Kong women’s national team. His older brother Rory is a two-time Great Britain junior coxswain who has competed at the 2009 World Junior Rowing Championships and for the England seniors at the 2010 Home International Regatta. Copus is enrolled in Cornell’s College of Arts and Sciences.
