As a Senior (2012-13)
Hartung served as a cross country captain during her senior year, though a nagging injury hampered her performance relative to her terrific junior season. Still, Hartung was a key part of the team and one of its top seven runners much of the year. She ran as part of the group that won the Heptagonal Championship for the second year, helping the team take third at the Northeast Regional and also competing at the NCAA Championships. At the conclusion of the season, Hartung was given the John Moakley Award for the senior who has done the most as well as the Carol Andersen Award for being a team captain.

On the track, Hartung concluded her career in phenomenal form.  She ran the 3K at the Indoor Heps, placing 13th, but she was a stronger ninth in the mile run in that event. At the Indoor ECACs the following week, Hartung scored four points for the Big Red with a fifth-place finish. Outdoors, she placed fifth in the 3K Run Championship in 9:32.42, and she followed that with a second-place showing in the 3K steeplechase at the Outdoor Heps. In an incredible race at the NCAA East Regional in Greensboro, N.C., Hartung placed seventh overall and third in her heat in a four-second personal best, advancing to the NCAA Outdoor Championship in Eugene, Ore.

As a Junior (2011-12)
During the cross country season, Hartung was consistently one of the best runners on the Big Red all season, finishing second on the team in every race. She was second overall in the Army-Binghamton tri-meet, fourth at the Colgate Invitational, 28th at the Paul Short Invitational, 28th at Pre-Nationals, fifth at the Heptagonal Championships and 20th at the NCAA Northeast Regionals. Hartung was named first-team All-Ivy for her performance at Heps and also named an all-region honoree.

Hartung had one of the best years of any Cornell track athlete, starting at the Indoor Heps when she scored a point for Cornell by placing sixth in the 3K. She was also eighth in the 5K at that meet. The next week at the Indoor ECACs, Hartung was seventh in the mile and sixth in the 3K in a much larger and more competitive field. Hartung also ran well at the Penn Relays, taking sixth in the women's championship race of the 3K steeplechase. Her skills really shone through there, as she was third in the steeplechase to score six points for Cornell, and she won the steeplechase at the Outdoor ECAC Championship one week later. Finally, her terrific season came to a thrilling conclusion as she advanced to the NCAA Championships in the steeplechase after qualifying 11th at the NCAA East Regionals. At the national championships, Hartung made it out of the semifinals to reach the national championship run where she took 13th place. Hartung's 9:37.16 in the indoor 3K is now the 10th-best time in Cornell history, and her indoor 5K time of 16:38.32 is sixth best ever at Cornell. She holds the outdoor school record in the steeplechase at 10:10.55, which she set at the NCAA East Regional in Jacksonville, Fla.

As a Sophomore (2010-11)
After a tremendous freshman year, Hartung continued to make major contributions to the Big Red in all three seasons as a sophomore and is one of the top distance runners in the East. Hartung continued to be an integral part of the Cornell’s top five during her sophomore cross country season. It was during her sophomore track season that she attempted the steeplechase for the first time and enjoyed impressive success right away, scoring at the Heps and earning a bronze medal at the ECAC Championships. Hartung also qualified for the First Round of the NCAAs in her new outdoor specialty. The course record-holder on Cornell’s Moakley Course, she was also an ECAC qualifier in both the 3000 and 5000 in track.

As a Freshman (2009-10)
Hartung earned All-Ivy and All-Region honors in cross country during her freshman campaign.

Before Cornell
One of the finest distance runners and cross country runners in New York state, Hartung has personal bests of 4:41 for 1500 and 9:57 for 3K and was a New York state champion in the 3000 meters as a senior. Seventh at the Nike Outdoor National meet in the 5K at 17:47, she is also among the best in the Northeast in cross country.
