As a Senior (2013-14)McMahon was one of seven Big Red runners to compete at the NCAA Championships 6K in Terre Haute, Ind. She finished 164th with a time of 21:45.4. She ran in three other 6K races this season, including the Paul Short Gold race, the Wisconsin Invitational and the Ivy League/Heptagonal Championships. Her 5K finishes include a 9th place finish at the meet against Army with a time of 18:23.8 and a 39th place finish at the Boston College Invitational (18:11.0).
McMahon followed a fantastic conclusion to her cross country career with another strong season on the track. She took home 1
st place in the 3000 at the Cornell Upstate Challenge. She participated in both the 5000 and 3000 at the Indoor Heps, finishing 22
nd and 24
th respectively. The following week she posted an indoor best 5000 of 16:48.50 in a 5
th place finish at the ECAC’s. Outdoors, McMahon started strong, posting a season best 3000 of 9:54.85 in a 1
st place finish at the UCR Spring Break Invitational. She marked a season best 10,000 of 34:05.46 in a 22
nd place finish at the Stanford Invitational. Her best 5000 of the season came at the Larry Ellis Invitational, marking a 16:41.97 in a 16
th finish. She participated in both the 5000 and 10,000 at the Outdoor Heps, finishing 8
th and 6
th respectively. She concluded her Big Red career at the NCAA East Prelims, taking 18
th in the 10,000.
As a Junior (2012-13)McMahon was one of the team's top cross country runners in 2012, finishing in the top five in every race of the season. She was named to the All-Ivy Second Team after finishing 10th at the Heptagonal Championship and helping Cornell to its second consecutive team title. She was the Big Red's fourth runner at the Northeast Regionals and the team's fourth runner at the NCAA Championship, where she placed 123rd in her second NCAA Championship race. McMahon began the year very well, placing second overall at the Army-Binghamton tri-meet. After that, she was fourth at the Yellowjacket Invitational, 13th at the Paul Short Run and 85th at the very competitive Wisconsin Invitational.
On the track, she continued to be an important part of the Big Red distance corps. She advanced to the NCAA East Regional in the 10K where she ran 34:46.56 for 18th place and just missed qualification for the NCAA Champioship. Earlier in the year, McMahon was 11th in the 5K at the Indoor Heps and eighth in the 3K at the Indoor ECACs. She ran 10th in the 5K Championship Run at the Penn Relays, was 10th in the same event at thet Outdoor Heps and ran an impressive fourth in the 10K at the Outdoor Heps. She also placed 12th in the 5K at the Outdoor ECACs. She set personal bests in all her running events of 10 seconds in the 3K, one second in the 5K and 33 seconds in the 10K.
As a Sophomore (2011-12)McMahon continued to improve throughout her sophomore season, consistently placing among the top five runners at Cornell. She placed sixth at the season-opening Army-Binghamton tri-meet, took 15th at the Colgate Invitational, cracked the Cornell top five for the first time at the Paul Short Run (72nd overall), ran fifth again for the Big Red at Pre-Nationals (50th overall), and then had her best race of the year at the Heptagonal Championships, where she was the fourth Cornell runner to cross the finish line (12th overall). That performance earned her Second-Team All-Ivy honors, and she followed that up by taking third place for Cornell (28th) at the NCAA Northeast Regionals to close her season.
On the track, she earned a silver medal in the Olympic Development women's 5K at the Penn Relays with an 11-second personal best. The next week at the Outdoor Heptagonal Championships, McMahon placed fifth in the 5K to score two points for the Big Red. She also finished even better in the 10K, taking third and scoring six points for the team. At the Outdoor ECACs, McMahon took seventh and scored two points for her side. Advancing to the NCAA East Regional in Jacksonville, Fla., McMahon came in 13th place in the 10K, missing a spot at the NCAA Championships by just one place. Her time of 16:38.65 in the outdoor 5K is the ninth-best time ever at Cornell, and her 34:37.70 10K outdoors is the fifth-best time in school history.
As a Freshman (2010-11)McMahon had a brilliant freshman year in cross country, garnering First-Team All-Ivy honors. She also earned a spot at the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., where she finished 98th as the 13th-best freshman in the field. The Cornell freshman record-holder at historic Van Cortlandt Park, McMahon went on to earn All-Region honors at the NCAA Northeast Championships en route to qualifying for the NCAAs. She was voted the team’s Most Valuable Runner by her teammates.
Before CornellMcMahon finished in the top seven at the Class 4A state meet in cross country and the 3200m in track and field, finishing as high as third in cross country in 2009. She was a three-time BorderClash participant, finishing in the top five twice.
PersonalDevin Elizabeth McMahon is the daughter of Scott and Ann McMahon and has a younger sister. She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
