As a Senior (2012-13)
Kelly concluded his outstanding cross country career by being one of Cornell's top seven runners in every race of the 2012 season. He finished second for the Big Red at the NCAA Northeast Regionals in 29th place overall two weeks after he took third for Cornell at the Heptagonal Championships and 15th overall. Earlier in the year, Kelly was a fourth-place finisher at the Army-Binghamton tri-meet. He also finished seventh at the Yellowjacket Invitational, 28th at the Paul Short Run, 247th at the Wisconsin Invitational and 105th at the Princeton Invitational. At the conclusion of the season, Kelly was given the John Moakley Award as the senior who has done the most.
Kelly also had his best year on the track, setting personal records in the 5K and 10K while racing in important events throughout the season. He was 11th in the 5K at the Indoor Heps and followed that by taking fourth at the Indoor IC4As in the event to score five points for the Big Red. He ran 11th in the 10K at the Outdoor Heps and 17th in the 5K, but his fastest 10K time of the season qualified him for the NCAA East Regional in Greensboro, N.C. There, Kelly ran 26th to end his Big Red career.
As a Junior (2011-12)
Kelly had a terrific junior season, constantly scoring points for the Big Red and placing first among the team at the Heptagonal Championships (11th overall). For his high finish at Heps, Kelly was named Second-Team All-Ivy. Kelly started his stellar year placing fifth overall and fourth for the Big Red at the Army-Bignhamton tri-meet. He followed that performance with an eighth-place showing at the Colgate Invitational, and then he took 30th at the Paul Short Invitational and first among Cornell runners. Kelly finished 10th at the Princeton Invitational and ended his season as the top Big Red runner at the NCAA Northeast Regionals. He claimed Cornell's Clarence Spindler Award, given to the team's most valuable member.
On the track, Kelly cut 18 seconds off his personal best at the Indoor IC4As in the 5K, running 14:17.05 to place ninth in the preliminary race and just miss the finals. That time is also the fourth-best in school history. Outdoors at the Heps, he took 16th place in the 5K and ninth place in the 10K. His best 10K time outdoors of 29:24.58 is now the sixth-best time ever at Cornell. At season's end, he claimed the Dr. George Ladas Award as Cornell's best distance runner.
As a Sophomore (2010-11)
Kelly again consistently placed in the top seven in cross country. In outdoor track, he improved his personal best in the 5,000m by running 14:35 while qualifying for the IC4A meet in both the 5,000m and 10,000m.
As a Freshman (2009-10)
