At Cornell
Junior (2011-12): Yang served as an assistant captain during her junior season. She led the saber squad with a record of 41-23 overall and went 9-9 at the Ivy League tournament. Yang placed 21st at the NCAA Regional tournament. Following the season, she was named the Big Red’s Cointe Award winner, given to the fencer that shows great sportsmanship throughout the season.
Sophomore (2010-11): Yang had a solid sophomore season, finishing the year with a 27-23 record overall and a mark of 6-12 in the Ivy League. She went on to place 10th at the NCAA Regionals with a record of 10-13.
Freshman (2009-10): Yang had an extremely impressive rookie season, posting the second most victories on the team and leading the saber squad with a record of 38-14 (.731). She also posted the Big Red’s second-best record at the Ivy League tournament, going 9-9 in the competition. During the postseason, Yang finished in eighth place at the NCAA Regionals before posting Cornell’s best finish at the NCAA tournament, placing 17th overall.
At Governor Livingston HS
Yang earned four varsity letters at Governor Livingston high school, serving as team captain in 2008. She earned NJSIAA first-team all-state honors as a junior, before being named second team as a senior. Yang helped both her team and her saber squad to NJSIAA state titles in 2009, as well as a District 3 Squad Championship. That season, she was named the winner of the NJSIAA Sportsmanship Award. As a junior, Yang was named to the
Star Ledger second-team all-state after winning a District 3 individual championship.
Personal
Beverly R. Yang is the daughter of Henry and Hui-Tung Yang. She is enrolled in the College of Engineering.
