George Oliver's up-to-date results
As a Senior (2015-16)
Oliver ran in five cross country races as a senior, posting a season-best sixth-place finish at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational, and recorded his season-best time at the John Reif Memorial, finishing the 8K course in 25:24.6 for eighth. He placed 73rd at Ivy League Cross Country Heptagonals.
On the track, he grabbed two runner-up finishes, one in the 3K at the Cornell Sunday Invitational and one in the 5K at the Marc Deneault Invitational, both indoors. Outdoors, he placed fourth in the 5K at the Big Red Invitational and qualified for IC4A Championships in the 10K.
As a Junior (2014-15)
Oliver finished fourth on the 8K course at the Harry Anderson Invitational with a time of 25:54.8 At the John Reif Memorial Run, his 26:21.00 time was good for 10
th place. Â
As a Sophomore (2013-14)
Out of the four races Oliver ran this cross country season, his best time came at the Princeton Invitational, where he finished 96th out of 272 runners with a time of 25:15.0. He also competed at the season-opener against Army, the Paul Short OPen and the Reif Memorial Run.Â
On the track, Oliver participated at five indoor and two outdoor events in his sophomore season. He kicked off the year with a career best 3000 time of 8:38.19 in a 3
rd place finish at the Cornell Upstate Challenge. He added a 3
rd place finish in the 5000 at the Deneault Memorial. Two weeks later he competed at the Indoor IC4A’s, posting a career best 5000 time of 14:39.33 in a 15
th place finish.
As a Freshman (2012-13)
Oliver's freshman year saw him run in four races for Cornell, taking 25th place at the Army-Binghamton tri-meet and 21st the John Reif Memorial Run. He was also 53rd at the Yellowjacket Invitational and 53rd at the Paul Short Run's open race.
On the track, he ran distance events for the Big Red, posting a seasonal best of 4:13.00 in the 1500 at the Binghamton-Buffalo tri-meet and 15:19.73 in the 5K at the Bison Outdoor Classic.
Before Cornell
Oliver ran track for all four years in high school primarily as a distance runner. He was a team captain his senior year and was All-State cross country as well. He earned three All-Conference cross country nods. A two-time 4x800 indoor state champ and an Emerging Elite 4x800 national champion, Oliver comes to Ithaca with a personal best of 9:22 in the 3200-meter race.
Personal
George Conniffe Oliver is the son of Robert and Rebecca Oliver. He has two younger sisters, Ellen and Susie. His grandfather, Bill Hazzard, played men's soccer at Cornell in the 1950s.
