Gibson's up-to-date resultsAs a Junior (2014-15)After missing the indoor season due to injury, Gibson was a member of the Ivy League Champion 4x100 relay team at Outdoor Heptagonals, with the team finishing in 40.60 seconds. Individually, his highest finish came at the outdoor Upstate Challenge when he placed fourth in the 400 with a time of 50.33.
As a Sophomore (2013-14)Coming off of an impressive freshman season, Gibson was an integral cog in the middle distances for the Big Red in his second year. He took 2
nd place in the 400 at the Cornell Southern Tier Collegiate Open. He added another 2
nd place finish in the 400 at the Cornell Upstate Challenge. He took home 6
th place in the 200 at the SPIRE NCAA Indoor Invitational. Gibson continued to shave his times in the indoor season, culminating in a strong showing at the Indoor Heps. He took home 3
rd place in the 400 at the event. The following week he had another strong showing at the Indoor IC4A’s posting an indoor best 21.63 in the 200. He also was an important part of the Big Red’s 4x4 team that took 3
rd place at the IC4A’s. Gibson carried his success outdoors, helping the Big Red 4x1 team take 3
rd place at the Stanford Invitational and 1
st place at the Penn Relays. He starred at the Outdoor Heps, helping the Big Red take 1
st in both the 4x1 and 4x4. Individually, he marked a wind-aided 21.30 to place 1
st in the 200. He also posted a career best 47.89 in the 400 to take 2
nd place. Gibson’s performance at the Heps propelled him to the NCAA East Prelims where he represented the Big Red in the 4x1, 4x4, and the 200.
As a Freshman (2012-13)Gibson had a phenomenal start to his Cornell career, competing at multiple important events and traveling as an alterate in the 4x100 relay to the NCAA East Regional in Greensboro, N.C. Gibson started his season by helping the Big Red to a seventh-place finish at the Indoor Heps in the DMR. He also competed as an individual in the 400 at that event, taking 15th place. Outdoors at the Penn Relays, Gibson was the first leg of the Big Red's second-place 4x400 Heptagonal relay team. He then went to the Outdoor Heps and was the second leg of the Big Red's second-place 4x400 relay tema. Gibson ran the 400 as an individual in that competition as well, taking fourth place and scoring four points for Cornell with a personal-best of 48.26 seconds. A week later at the Outdoor IC4As, Gibson placed 23rd in the 400.
Before CornellGibson’s best event was the 400 where he ran 48.31 and was the state champion, but he also has very good range as he lead his high school team to a state championship and ran on three nationally ranked relays. He also ran a 1:53 in the 800.
