Biography

As a senior (2015-16)
• Dowdy went 13-6 on the season with three of his losses coming to ranked opponents.
• Won the Binghamton Open at 157 pounds with a 3-2 win over Lehigh's Cole walter in the final.
• Was in the lineup for four dual matches, going 2-2.
• Wrestled for the Big Red at the Grapple at the Garden, picking up a iwn over Rutgers.
• Went 2-2 at both the Las Vegas Invitational and the Southern Scuffle.
• Was 1-1 in Ivy League dual action, helping Cornell to its 13th straight Ivy title.

As a junior (2014-15)
• Dowdy went 10-2 with championships at the Binghamton Open and the New York State Intercollegiates in the B Division at 157 pounds.
• Opened the year with 10 consecutive victories, including three by major decision.
• Was a perfect 5-0 to win the Binghamton Open title, earning an 8-3 triumph over Old Dominion's TC Warner in the finals.
• Won all five matches in the back draw of the New York state meet, including a major decision win in the finals.
• Wrestled atthe Southern Scuffle, dropping a pair of matches.

As a sophomore (2013-14)
• Dowdy had a strong sophomore campaign, going 8-2 while seeing action at the Binghamton Open and the New York State Intercollegiates in the fall.
• He opened the season by going 4-2 at 157 pounds at the Binghamton Open, earning victories over wrestlers from Maryland, Princeton, Penn State and Bucknell.
• He won the B bracket of the New York State meet, knocking off a pair of Columbia wrestlers before topping teammate Taylor Simaz 5-3 in the final.

As a freshman (2012-13)
• Dowdy went 15-10 with 11 bonus wins, including six falls, during his rookie campaign.
• He was 3-3 in dual meets, posting wins over Binghamton, Drexel and Princeton.
• He finished second at the New York State Intercollegiate championships, earning his first two victories by major decision.
• Dowdy won three of his first four matches in the back draw of the Binghamton Open.
• He defeated No. 12 Matt Lester of Oklahoma 4-0 at the Journeymen Duals.

Prior to Cornell
• Dowdy was a four-time letter winner at St. Benedict’s Prep in wrestling, where he was team captain his senior year.
• He was a three-time place winner at the National Prep wrestling tournament, including a second place finish at 135 pounds in 2011.
• Dowdy took first place at the New Jersey freestyle tournament in 2011, and was eighth at 145 pounds at the Beast of the East that same year.
• He placed fourth at 70kg at the FILA Junior National wrestling championships in 2012.
• Dowdy was a member of the New Jersey All-Star and National teams.  
 
Personal
• Christopher Benjamin Dowdy is the son of Ronda Dowdy.
• His older sister, Elizabeth, attends Hampton University and is on the marching band and dance team.
• Majoring in developmental sociology, Dowdy is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
