Biography

As a fifth-year senior (2016-17)
• Was 12-5 overall, winning a pair of Ivy League dual meets.
• Reached the podium at the Southern Scuffle, taking sixth with three losses to wrestlers in the top 16.
• Took second place at the Cleveland State Open, part of a 5-1 start to begin the season.
• Earned a 3-2 win over No. 17 Frank Mattiace of Penn in his final collegiate match.
• Also wrestled at the Edinboro Open.

As a senior (2015-16)
• Qualified for his first NCAA championship after placing an impressive third at the EIWA tournament.
• Won a consolation matchup against Northern Colorado's Trent Noon, 8-4.
• Posted a 3-8 record against NCAA qualifiers, with six of the losses coming by three points or less.
• Finished his season with a 16-9 record with seven bonus point wins.
• Enters his fifth year with a 38-15 career record (.717) with 16 bonus point wins.
• Owned a pair of victories over Lehigh’s John Bolich, part of his 12-2 resume against EIWA foes.
• Seven of his nine losses have come by three points or less.

As a junior (2014-15)
• Scott went 13-4 as the team's primary backup at 197.
• He went 5-1 to place third at the weight at the Binghamton Open, including a win by fall over teammate and two-time Eastern champ Jace Bennett.
• Made the linup in the team's season-opening dual meet win over Oklahoma, picking up a 6-5 triumph over Brad Johnson.
• Finished fourth at the New York State Intercollegiates,
• Was 4-2 at the Penn State Open, including four straight wins in the wrestlebacks after losing to nationally ranked Morgan McIntosh 5-0 in the first round.

As a sophomore (2013-14)
• Scott went 9-2 as one of the team’s top backups at 174 pounds.
• He went 5-1 to finish second at the Binghamton Open, knocking off top wrestlers from Harvard, Rutgers and Princeton en route to the finals.
• He also went 3-1 at the New York State Intercollegiates.
• Scott earned a dual meet start in the season-opening victory over Binghamton, picking up a 15-2 major decision over John Paris.

As a freshman (2012-13)
• Scott did not compete for Cornell.

Prior to Cornell
• Scott is a two-time New York State finalist with a 238-22 record in high school.
• He is a two-time NHCSA All-American and a one-time finalist.
• With the Finger Lakes Wrestling Club, he won titles at the New York State Intercollegiate Championships in the “B” Bracket and JCCC Open.
• He also took second at the Cleveland State Open, fourth at the Mat Town Open and sixth at the Buffalo Open.
• He was 25-8 for the 2011-12 season.
• Scott was a member of the National Honor Society.
 
Personal
• Owen Claude Scott is the son of Ellen and Walter Scott.
• His twin brother, Craig, is also on the Cornell Wrestling team.
• Majoring in agricultural sciences, Scott is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
