Biography
At Cornell
A three-year starter on floor, Sato was one of the most consistent competitors as a junior in 2013. She posted a 9.5 or better in all but one event, including a career-best 9.8 at Rutgers. She scored a 9.625 at both the ECAC Championships and the USAG Collegiate Nationals. Sato also started on bars at four meets with a season-high of 9.2. She posted a 9.575 or better in each of the team's last six meets of 2012. She posted a career-high 9.775 against Penn and Brockport and a strong 9.675 at the USAG Collegiate Nationals. Sato also earned a lineup spot on bars in three meets. Sato was a consistent starter on floor as a freshman in 2011, competing in the Ivy League, ECAC and USAG championships. She posted a career-best 9.600 on floor at the ECAC meet.
Prior to Cornell
A Hawaii state champion, Sato was a region 2, Level 10 qualifier. Sato was a Junior Olympics national team competitor for the Hawaiian Island Twisters. She attended Iolani School.
Personal
Mackenzie Alexandria Sato is the daughter of Mark and Melissa Sato and has two brothers and two sisters.
