Biography

At Cornell
Junior (2015-16): Gallagher helped the second varsity eight to victories over Syracuse and Navy in a battle for the Stagg Points Plate, as well as a win over Penn and Dartmouth at the Madeira Cup. At both the 2016 Eastern Sprints and 2016 IRA National Championship, he helped the second varsity eight to a second place finish in the Petite Finals to take eighth place overall. After the season, Gallagher rowed in the Cornell eight that advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Temple Challenge Cup at the 177th edition of the Henley Royal Regatta. Gallagher was also invited to compete for a spot on the US Under-23 team.

Sophomore (2014-15): As a sophomore, Gallagher rowed in the second varsity eight that won the Petite Finals at the 2015 ECAC Sprints, before taking second in the Petite Finals of the 2015 IRA Regatta.

Freshman (2013-14): In his first season with the Big Red, Gallagher helped the freshmen eight to win a bronze medal at the 2014 Eastern Sprints. The crew went on to be the Big Red's lone boat to race in the Grand Finals of the 2014 IRA Regatta and placed sixth in the nation.

Prior to Cornell
Gallagher lettered four times in rowing at Chaminade high school. He helped the men's varsity eight to a second place finish at the NY state championships in both 2012 and 2013. He also lettered twice in basketball and twice in lacrosse.
 
Personal
John Andrew Gallagher is the son of John and Kathleen Gallagher and he has one younger brother and one younger sister. He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
