Biography

At Cornell
Junior (2015-16):
Hobbs helped the second varsity eight to victories over Syracuse and Navy in a battle for the Stagg Points Plate, as well as a win over Penn and Dartmouth for the James Wray Memorial Trophy. He rowed in the third varsity eight that finished fourth at the 2016 Eastern Sprints, missing out on a bronze medal by three-tenths of a second. At the 2016 IRA National Championship, he helped the second varsity eight to a second place finish in the Petite Finals to take eighth place overall. After the season, Hobbs rowed in the Cornell eight that advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Temple Challenge Cup at the 177th edition of the Henley Royal Regatta.

Sophomore (2014-15): During his sophomore season, Hobbs rowed in the fourth varsity eight that won the gold medal at the 2015 ECAC Sprints, before moving into the third varsity eight and taking third in the Petite Final to finish ninth overall at the 2015 IRA Regatta. 

Freshman (2013-14): In his first season with the Big Red, Hobbs rowed in the third varsity eight that finished in fifth place overall at the 2014 Eastern Sprints. The crew, which entered the weekend as the eight-seed, then won the Petite Finals at the 2014 IRA Regatta to place seventh overall.

Prior to Cornell
Hobbs earned three varsity letters at McLean high school, where he was named a Washington Post All-Met First Team selection following his senior season. He helped the lightweight eight to a gold medal at the 2011 VASRA state championship, after a third place finish at the Stotesbury cup that same season. Hobbs also rowed as a member of the Thompson Boat Center, winning the bronze in the junior eight at the 2012 USRowing Club Nationals, after helping junior eight B crew to a first place finish at the 2010 regatta. He also rowed as a member of the four with coxswain, taking first at both the 2012 Head of the Schuykill and the Bill Braxton Memorial Regatta.
 
Personal
Kristoper Ian Hobbs is the son of Huntington and Diane Hobbs and he has two older brothers. He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
