Senior Season — 2015-16
Malik did not appear in any scoring matches.
Junior Season — 2014-15
Malik recorded four wins in six matches from the bottom third of the order. He swept all three of his matches at the season-opening Cornell Round Robin, defeating opponents from Western Ontario, Williams and George Washington in three sets apiece. His final victory came in another three-set sweep on Feb. 8 against an opponent from Hobart.
Sophomore Season — 2013-14
Malik was one of just four members of the Big Red to compete in all 17 matches on the season, where he accumulated an 8-9 record from the lower half of the order. He was most frequently appeared at the No. 8 position, posting a 7-4 record. He was 4-3 in Ivy League matches, including four-games victories the final weekend against Penn's John Dudzik and Princeton's Ash Egan. Malik then won his match handily against Rochester's Christian Reidelsheimer in the consolation semifinals of the Potter Cup. The Big Red's 5-4 victory against the Yellowjackets allowed it to move up to sixth in the final national rankings.
Freshman Season — 2012-13
Malik appeared in 17 matches, which was the second-highest total among freshmen. His 11-6 record including a perfect 7-0 mark when competing in the middle shift, though his most common placement was at the No. 9 spot. He won his first five matches and nine of his first 10. He was 3-2 in Ivy League play, including a three-game win over Michael LeBlanc in the Big Red's 5-4 victory over previously undefeated and top-ranked Princeton on Feb. 8. Three of Malik's six losses came in five games — all coming in the Potter Cup.
Prior to Cornell
Malik competed for six years, ascending to be the top-ranked player at Sanskriti School while also embarking on a successful junior career. He was ranked as high as fourth in India for junior players in 2011, including second in his state. He advanced to the U19 quarterfinals at India's Junior National Squash Championships in consecutive years, finishing seventh in 2010 and sixth in 2011. Malik also finished fifth at the 2011 Indian Junior Open, which earned him a ranking of 53rd in the Asian Junior Rankings as of June 2012.
Personal
Abhijit Malik is the son of Anup and Poonam Malik, and he has an older sister and a younger brother. He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
