Biography
At Cornell
As a junior (2016-17)
• Consistent member of the second varsity eight throughout his junior season.
• Rowed the crew to victory over Columbia and MIT.
• Also helped the second varsity eight defeat Dartmouth.
• Rowed with the varsity four without a coxswain at the IRA National Championships, earning a bronze medal in the Grand Final.
As a sophomore (2015-16)
• Rowed in the second varsity eight that took the silver medal at the 2016 Eastern Sprints.
• Helped the crew earn the Leonard Cup with a win over Penn and Harvard, as well as posting victories over Princeton, Yale, Columbia, MIT, and Dartmouth.
• Rowed in the Cornell lightweight eight that won its qualifying round to earn a spot in the Temple Challenge Cup at the 177th edition of the Henley Royal Regatta.
As a freshman (2014-15)
• Rowed from the bow seat in the lightweight four without coxswain that took fourth at the 2015 IRA Regatta.
• Helped the Big Red earn its second consecutive Jope Cup by rowing in the third varsity eight that won a gold medal at the 2015 EARC Sprints.
• Selected for the lightweight men's four that represented the United States and finished sixth overall at the 2015 World Rowing Under 23 Championships, held in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
Prior To Cornell
• As a member of Nautical Club of Thessaloniki, Bustamante won gold medals at the 2012 Greek National Championship in the Under 16 men’s 4- and the junior men’s 4- in 2013.
• Also took silver in the senior men’s lightweight 4x and bronze in the junior men’s eight at the 2013 Greek National Championships.
• In the summer of 2013, Bustamante attended the US Junior National Team High Performance Camp and won a silver medal in the junior men’s 8+ and a bonze medal in the intermediate men’s 8+.
• At the 2014 Greek National Championships, he won a silver medal in the junior men's 4-, the junior men's 8+, and the senior men's lightweight 4x, while taking the bronze medal in the senior men's 8+.
• Also competed at the 2014 Spanish National Championships, representing Nautical Club of Seville, and won a gold medal while setting a record in the junior men's 8+.
Personal
• Marco Joseph Bustamante Nadeau is the son of Jesus Bustamante and Susan Nadeau and he has one younger brother and one younger sister.
• Enrolled in the College of Engineering.
