Biography

As a Senior (2017)
• The two-time captain closed out his time on East Hill with yet another productive season on defense.
• Started all 15 games he participated in, racking up 1,322 minutes of action on the pitch.
• Notched one assist during the year, dishing out a feed on the insurance goal in a 3-1 triumph over Lafayette (9/10), marking the first victory of the year for Cornell.
• Was also active at the opposition’s net, recording 14 total shots with five being on goal – the most by any defender on the team.
 
As a Junior (2016)
• The co-captain's leadership was evident on the field during the 2016 season.
• Started all 17 fixtures at left back and was second on the team in minutes played with 1,518, only leaving the field on three occasions.
• Was looked upon to help build the offense out of the back with overlapping runs and services and finished the season with eight shots and six shots on goal. 

As a Sophomore (2015)
• Continued to play a key role at left back in his sophomore season, starting all 17 contests and amassing 1,450 minutes as part of a Big Red defense that never allowed more than two goals in a game.
• Played with the experience and poise of a veteran defender.
• Contributed offensively, recording his first career assist on the game-tying goal in a 2-1 loss to Cleveland State on Sept. 11.
• Scored the game-winning goal in 1-0 victory over Colgate on Oct. 13.

As a Freshman (2014)
• Was an immediate contributor on the Big Red backline in his inaugural season.
• Made 15 starts on the year and was a big reason why Cornell’s team defense did not miss a beat in 2014.
• Logged significant minutes in the left back role, growing his impact on the offensive third as the season progressed.
• Scored his first collegiate goal in 1-0 victory at Brown on Oct. 25.
• Named Ivy League Rookie of the Week on the strength of the game-winning performance.

Before Cornell
• A member of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy, he started 37 games over the past two years with the Revolution Empire.
• Attended Jamesville-DeWitt HS where he was a starter as a freshman and sophomore and was an all-league pick in his final season. 
• Part of a state semifinalist squad that won sectional and regional titles as a sophomore and was a state qualifier in the 4x400 relay as a sophomore.

Personal
• Eric Marchant Nuss is the son of James and Melissa Nuss.
• He has an older sister, Emily, who played varsity soccer at Binghamton Univeristy '15.
• His father, James, ran varsity track at Syracuse University.
