Biography
Senior Season — 2017-18
Stone was 2-2 from the No. 9 position, with all of his appearances coming in January non-league matches. He won his season debut on Jan. 14 with a resounding three-game victory against an opponent from Hobart, then he later topped a foe from Franklin & Marshall in three to help the Big Red to a key 5-4 victory oer the Diplomats.
Junior Season — 2016-17
Stone was 3-5 from the bottom third of the order, starting his season with a come-from-behind victory in five sets against an opponent from Brown on Jan. 15. He followed that up with an easier three-set triumph three days later at Hobart, then later worked his way into the Big Red's lineup for the Hoehn Cup. Competing at No. 9 for the weekend, he won his finale in four sets against an opponent from George Washington.
Sophomore Season — 2015-16
Stone won three of the four non-league matches in which he appeared, with the lone loss coming in five sets. Three of his four matches came from the No. 9 position, with his victories coming against opponents from Middlebury, Williams and Hobart.
Freshman Season — 2014-15
Stone was 9-6 in his collegiate debut, with his nine victories ranking fourth on the team. He competed as high as No. 5 and as low as No. 9 in the order, most frequently checking at the No. 7 spot. He was 5-1 as the anchor of the bottom third, including an impressive victory against Brown's Thomas Walker on Jan. 10. Stone rallied from two sets down to win in a fifth set, recording his first career Ivy League victory. He later ended the season on a four-match winning streak, including a five-set win against Hobart's Divine Wing and a sweep of his three matches at the Hoehn Cup.
Prior to Cornell
Stone competed in both squash and baseball for four years at Episcopal Academy, helping the squash team win Mid-Atlantic Squash Association and national high school championships in 2011 and 2012. He has been ranked as high as 17th in the US Squash Junior BU19 division.
Personal
Andrew George Stone is the son of Neil and Leslie Stone, and he has two older sisters. He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the SC Johnson College of Business.
