Biography
Sophomore Season — 2016-17
Francis was 5-6 from the bottom third of the order, appearing most frequently at the No. 8 position. He won his first two Ivy League matches in three sets against opponents from Brown and Columbia, then was in the middle of the Big Red's clinching second-rotation sweep of Navy in the Hoehn Cup quarterfinals.
Freshman Season — 2015-16
Francis had a terrific collegiate debut for the Big Red with a team-high 13 victories against just four losses. Eleven of his 17 matches came from the No. 9 position, where he posted a dominant 9-2 record. He was 5-2 in Ivy League matches, and he ended the season on a six-match winning streak that included all three tilts at the Hoehn Cup.
Prior to Cornell
Competing out of Maryland Squash Racquets Association, Francis was once ranked in the top 20 in the U.S. for his respective age group. He was also presented U.S. Squash's William T. Ketcham Jr. Award in 2013 as the most improved BU17 player, when his ranking increased 48 places from No. 80.
Personal
Benjamin Howard Francis is the son of Howard and Sarah Francis, and he has an older sister. He is enrolled in the College of Engineering.
