Biography
As a Junior (2015-2016)
Coffey was the Intermediate Flat Regional Champion and the Intermediate Fences Ivy League Champion. Coffey competed as the team's Intermediate Fences rider for the program's first trip to Nationals in Lexington Kentucky, where the team earned an overall 7th Place ranking.
As a Sophomore (2014-15)
Coffey concluded her stellar sophomore year with a national championship in the Novice Fences. She also helped the Big Red to an Ivy League team title with a championship in the Intermediate Flat and took home the championship in the Novice Flat and Novice Fences at the Regional Show. At the Zone 2 Championships, she finished reserve high-point in the Individual Novice Fences.
As a Freshman (2013-2014)
Coffey was a consistent point scorer for the Big Red throughout the season and ended the year winning the Novice Flat Ivy League Championship and placing 1st in the Team Novice Flat class at the Zone 2 Finals.
Before Cornell
Coffey competed in the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) from seventh grade through her graduation from Miss Porter's. She served as a co-captain of the varsity equestrian team from 2010-13, and helped the team to two regional qualifiers (2010,2013) and a regional championship and trip to the zone finals in 2013. Coffey was an individual regional qualifier from 2010-2013, the Varsity Open Flat Regional Champion in 2012 and advanced to zone finals, earning second plan in Varstiy Open Regional Championship Class that same year.Â
Personal
Shana Rose Coffey is the daughter of Richard and Ellen Coffey and has an older sister, Cecelia. She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
