Biography

As a senior (2017)
• Was a repeat unanimous selection on the All-Ivy League first team, becoming the first Cornell defensive player to be placed on the first team in consecutive years since Chris Zingo '94 in 1992 and 1993.
• Elected team captain in the preseason.
• Closed his career as the 13th player in school history with 250 tackles.
• Ranked second on team in tackles (60), leading the team in solo stops (42), and was third in the Ivy League with three interceptions (55th nationally).
• Was second in the conference with 10 passes defended, a mark that was 57th nationally.
• Named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week after the win at Princeton when he registered six tackles, two pass breakups and an interception.
• Had an interception in the season finale at Penn, giving him 14 for his career – the most by a Big Red player in 68 years and second on the school's all-time list.
• Recorded nine tackles in the 2017 opener at Delaware.
• Intercepted a pass and made four tackles in the Ivy opener at Yale.
• Recorded eight tackles, including one for a loss, against Colgate.

As a junior (2016)
• Named a third-team Associated Press FCS All-American and a unanimous choice to the All-Ivy League first team.
• Tied for the league lead and ranked third nationally with his six interceptions, including four coming in conference play.
• Led the Ancient Eight in passes defended (1.1 per game), a mark that was 39th nationally, and was second in the league and 12th nationally in solo tackles.
• Ended the year with 81 stops, including 2.5 for a loss and 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble, five pass breakups and six interceptions while starting all 10 games.
• Had seven tackles, intercepted a pass, broke up two others, forced a goal-line fumble that was recovered by Cornell and stopped a potential game-tying two-point conversion in the fourth quarter in helping Cornell retain the Empire State Bowl in the win at Columbia.
• Had eight tackles and broke up a pair of passes in the Big Red’s 2016 opening win at Bucknell.
• Intercepted a pass and made six tackles in the Homecoming win over Yale.
• Made seven tackles and broke up a pass on the game’s final play in a 39-38 win at No. 25 Colgate.
• Credited with 11 tackles and a sack while intercepting a pass at No. 16 Harvard.
• Intercepted two passes and made four total tackles against Sacred Heart.
• Had a career-high 14 tackles and intercepted a pass at Brown.

As a sophomore (2015)
• Gesualdi was third in the Ivy League in passes defended (9) and second in pass breakups (8) as a sophomore in 2015.
• He ranked second in Ivy League among safeties in tackles (51) and was eighth in solo tackles (41).
• Had four tackles, an interception and a pass breakup in the Big Red’s 3-0 shutout win over Columbia.
• Made four tackles while causing and recovering a fumble at Dartmouth.
• Had seven solo tackles and a pass breakup at Princeton.
• Broke up a pass and made three total tackles vs. Brown.
• Broke up a pair of passes at Sacred Heart.
• Posted a career-high 10 tackles at Yale and also notched 10 stops with a pair of pass breakups against Colgate.

As a freshman (2014)
• Named Ivy League Rookie of the Year as a freshman after setting a school record with four Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors.
• Also named Ivy Defensive Player of the Week once.
• Set a Cornell freshman record for interceptions in a season (four), a mark that ranked tied for first in the Ivy League and 25th nationally.
• Was second on the team and first among conference freshmen (17th overall) in the Ivy in tackles (58).
Also led all Ivy rookies in interceptions, and passes defended (eight) and ranked third in tackles for loss (5.0) and sacks (2.0).
• Had a dominant effort in the Big Red's win over Columbia with two interceptions, a forced fumble, a key fourth quarter sack, a drive-ending pass breakup and a team-high seven tackles to earn National Freshman of the Week, as well as Ivy League Defensive and Rookie of the Week.
• Made six tackles with his first career interception and sack to go along with a second pass breakup against defending Ivy League champion Princeton and posted an interception and a game-high seven tackles vs. Penn.
• Had eight tackles and two tackles for loss against Lehigh and eight more stops at defending Ivy champ Harvard.

At Boys Latin School
• A second team all-state selection as a senior, Gesualdi played safety, corner and wide receiver and served as the team’s primary kick and punt returner at Boys Latin School.
• He was named to the all-conference and all-metro team, earning an invitation to play in the Maryland Crab Bowl senior all-star game where he intercepted a pass.
• Gesualdi was nominated for the Big 44 all-star squad as a senior captain.
• Played four seasons of lacrosse, earning three varsity letters.

Personal
• Nicholas Anthony Gesualdi is the son of Albert and Patricia Gesualdi and has an older sister.
• He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
