As a senior (2018-19)

• Was 0-1 on the season, dropping his first match at the season-opening Bearcat Open before injury defaulting out of the tournament.
• Missed the rest of the season due to injury.
 

As a junior (2017-18)

• Posted a 13-9 overall record with five wins coming by way of fall.
• Wrestled in four dual meets, going 1-3.
• Placed third at the Cleveland State Open and fifth at the Edinboro Open.
• Competed in duals against Minnesota and Kent State at the South Beach Duals.
• Also wrestled at the Binghamton Open and the New York State Intercollegiates.
 

As a sophomore (2016-17)

• Completed the season with a 10-5 record, wrestling a pair of dual meets for the Big Red at 157 pounds.
• Took fourth at the New York State Intercollegiate championships in the Open Division after winning his first three matches to get to the third-place bout.
• Captured fifth at the Binghamton Open, winning his first three matches before taking two more wins in the back draw to reach the podium.
• Wrestled in both road duals in Oklahoma, dropping matches to top eight opponents.
 

As a freshman (2015-16)

• Posted a 3-4 record in his rookie season, including wrestling in a pair of Ivy League duals.
• Finished second at the Brockport Invitational and went 2-2 at the Binghamton Open.
• Won two of his three matches by bonus points.
 

Prior to Cornell

• Simaz was a two-time state champion and four-time finalist in Michigan at Allegan HS.
• Served as team captain for his final three seasons.
• Finished his senior year with a 62-1 record, giving him a 242-8 record for his career (123-2 in his final two seasons) with 139 wins by fall.
• His 242 career wins ranks fifth in state history, one spot ahead of brother Taylor (241) and four spots ahead of Cam (237).
• Was a two-time first-team all-state pick on the mats.
• Set a state record with 923 career takedowns.
• Was a four-time captain of the football team at quarterback and also was a three-year letter winner in baseball.
 

Personal

• Kyle Michael Simaz is the son of Joe and Annette Simaz and has three older brothers, Eric, Cam and Taylor.
• Eric wrestled for Central Michigan University, Cam ’12 was a four-time All-American and 2012 national champion at Cornell and Taylor is a junior for the Big Red.
• Kyle is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
