Biography

• Second-Team All-Ivy (2016)

As a junior (2016-17)

• Led the foil squad in win percentage (.704) and posted the second-most wins on the squad, going 50-21.
• Ranked third on the team in victories (50) and second overall in win percentage (.704).
• Had the second-most wins of any Big Red fencer at the 2017 Ivy League Fencing Championship, posting a record of 9-9.
• Went a perfect 13-0 at the Brandeis Invitational and dropped just one bout (11-1) at the Vassar Invitational.
• Was one of three Cornell fencers to finish in the top 10 at the 2017 NCAA Northeast Regional, placing ninth overall in the foil competition.
• The Big Red’s top finisher in her first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance, she earned eight wins to place 16th overall.
• Zusin knocked off three Ivy League fencers at the NCAA Tournament, including her teammate Luby Kiriakidi and Princeton's Ashley Tsue, who finished the tournament in eighth place.

As as sophomore (2015-16)
• Saw a significant jump in competition as a sophomore and earned a spot on the All-Ivy second team after posting a record of 10-6 at the 2016 Ivy League Round Robin.
• Finished the year ranked third on the foil squad with a record of 39-22 overall.
• The 39 victories tied for fourth overall on the team.
• Opened the season with a 13th place finish at the Temple Open.
• Posted a winning record in all four tournaments in which she participated.
• Finished the season strong, placing fifth at the NCAA Northeast Regional.
 
Freshman (2014-15)
• Had a solid rookie season, going 8-6 on the year.
• Was perfect vs. NJIT (2-0) and CCNY (1-0).
• Represented the Big Red in the fifth annual Korea-USA Elite Fencing Invitational (KUEFI), held in Gangwon, South Korea.  

Prior to Cornell
• A member of the Fencing Academy of Westchester.
• Took silver at the 2013 Junior Olympic Junior Team Event and bronze at the 2013 Summer Nationals Junior Team Event.
• Earned second place at the December 2011 NAC Division II Event and placed  third at both the July 2012 NAC Cadet Event and the 2012 Junior Olympic Junior Team Event. 
• Had multiple top 32 and top 16 finishes at Cadet and Junior NACs and traveled to Italy, Hungary and Germany as a member of the USA International Cadet Team.
• Was named to the 2013 United States Fencing Association All-Academic Team.
 
Personal
• Gabriella Simone Zusin is the daughter of Boris and Lena and she has one younger brother.
• Enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
