Biography
As a senior (2018)
• Competed in six meets, seeing time on beam and floor.
• Scored a 9.775 in team finals at the USAG Collegiate Nationals in helping the Big Red place fourth overall.
• Made her season debut with a 9.650 on floor in the senior day dual meet win over Springfield.
• Named to the ECAC All-Academic team.
As a junior (2017)
• Earned USAG Collegiate All-America honors with a 9.850 on beam, good for third overall at individual finals.
• Scored on both beam and floor during the season.
• Posted a 9.700 on both events at the ECAC Championships.
• Tied a season-high of 9.825 on floor at Towson and in the team finals of the USAG Collegiate Nationals.
• Named to the ECAC All-Academic team.
As a sophomore (2016)
• Captured her first USAG Collegiate All-America honor with a first-team finish on beam, placing 13th at the championship meet.
• Also was a full-time starter on floor, where she finished seventh at the Ivy Classic.
• Posted a 9.800 on floor at both Kent State and USAG Collegiate nationals – a mark that ranks in the top 20 in school history.
• Earned a spot on the ECAC All-Academic team.
As a freshman (2015)
• Started every meet of her freshman season on both beam and floor.
• Qualified in both events for the USAG Collegiate Nationals.
• Her 9.740 regional qualifying score on floor led the team, while her 9.720 on beam was second.
• Scored a season-best 9.825 on beam at the ECAC Championships, good for fifth.
• Also placed eighth on floor with a 9.800.
• Scored a 9.650 on both beam and floor at the USAG national meet.
• Hit 9.6 or better on floor in each of her final 11 meets of the season, with five scores of 9.75 or better.
• Had five beam efforts of 9.7 or higher.
• Also had three starts in the vault lineup, including at the ECAC Championships.
Prior to Cornell
• A Level 10 gymnast, she was part of a state championship team in 2014 and was a national qualifier in her final year, placing third on beam and fourth on floor.
• Gage was an all-around state champion at Level 9 in 2011 and was state and regional all-around champ in 2010 as a Level 9 competitor.
• Earned St. Louis Gymnastics Centre “Gymnast of the Year.”
Personal
• Joy Rachel Gage is the daughter of Brian and Amy Gage and has an older and younger sister.
• Her father was a gymnast at Stanford (1980-84).
• She is enrolled in the College of Human Ecology.
