Biography
• IRA All-Academic Team (2019)
• IRA All-Academic Team (2017)
As a senior (2018-19)
• Rowed in all nine regattas on the first Varsity eight as a senior.
• Occupied a variety of seats over the course of the season, including the second, third, fifth, seventh, and eighth seats.
• Helped the first Varsity eight to victories over Georgetown and No. 12 Penn, as the team crossed the finish line first in 5:30.80 to win the Madeira Cup and lead Cornell to the James Wray Memorial Trophy.
• Assisted Cornell to a second place finish in the Petite Finals at the 2019 EARC Sprints, placing eighth overall and fifth among Ivy schools.
• Rowed the first Varsity eight to a sixth place showing in the Petite Finals and a 12th place overall finish at the 2019 IRA National Championships.
As a junior (2017-18)
• Rowed with the varsity eight throughout the 2017-18 season.
• Helped the varsity eight win the Third Level Final at the 2018 IRA National Championships, placing 13th overall.
• Led the varsity eight to a third-place finish in the Petite Final at the 2018 EARC Sprints to beat its seed with a ninth place finish overall.
• Rowed in the crew that defeated Syracuse and Navy to win the Goes Cup.
• Helped Canada place fifth in the men's eight event at the 2018 Under 23 World Rowing Championships, held on the world-renowned Malta regatta course in Poznan, Poland.
As a sophomore (2016-17)
• Consistent member of the varsity eight throughout his sophomore season.
• Helped the crew take a sixth-place finish in the Petite Final at the 2017 IRA National Championships, placing twelfth overall.
• Rowed the varsity eight to a solid victory in the Petite Final at the 2017 EARC Sprints with a time that would have placed them ahead of sixth-place Brown’s pace in the Grand Finals.
• Also defeated Penn, winning the Madeira Cup.
As a freshman (2015-16)
• Spent the majority of his freshman season rowing in the fourth varsity eight, winning a bronze medal at the 2016 Eastern Sprints.
• Helped the Big Red fourth varsity eight to wins over Harvard, Penn, and Dartmouth, as well as the third varsity eight to wins against Navy and Syracuse, during the cup season.
• Also rowed in the varsity four at the 2016 IRA National Championship, placing fourth in the Petite Final to take 10th overall.
• Stroked the Cornell eight to the quarterfinal round of the Temple Challenge Cup at the 177th edition of the Henley Royal Regatta.
Prior to Cornell
• Rowed for five seasons with St. George's School, serving as team captain and winning his team’s MVP award as a senior.
• Also selected by his team and coaches as the program’s best oarsman and was nominated as the school’s athlete of the year.
• Won a gold medal in the U19 men’s eight at the 2014 Canadian high school national regatta (CSSRA), as well as in the U19 men’s eight at the 2014 Brentwood Regatta, and in the boys’ eight at the 2014 Saints-College Boat Race.
• As a sophomore, he took a pair of silver medals in the U17 men’s four with coxswain and the U17 men’s eight at the 2013 CSSRA.
Personal
• Alexander Charles Franklin Bebb is the son of Richard Bebb and Sarah Bell and he has one younger sister and one younger brother.
• Enrolled in the College of Engineering.
