Biography
• IRA All-Academic Team (2019)

As a senior (2019-20)
• Was on pace to be the first four-year coxswain of the varsity eight in Cornell heavyweight history before the 2020 spring season was cancelled due to COVID-19.
• Coxed the Big Red’s men’s championship eight boat at the Head of the Charles Regatta, helping Cornell post a time of 14:54.47.
• Helped the Cornell B 4+ boat to a seventh place finish in Flight 1 at the Cornell Autumn Classic, as the boat completed the race in 12:41.78.
• Coxed the Cornell A 8+ boat in Flight 2 at the Cornell Autumn Classic, helping the group place fourth among 22 boats and post the fastest Big Red heavyweight time (11:13.67) of the day.
As a junior (2018-19)
• Coxed the varsity eight boat for the majority of the 2018-19 campaign, including at the 2019 EARC Sprints and 2019 IRA National Championships.
• Guided Cornell to a second place finish in the Petite Final at the EARC Springs, placing eighth overall and fifth among Ivy schools.
• Coxed the varsity eight to a sixth place showing in the Petite Final and a 12th place overall finish at the IRA National Championships.
• Led the varsity eight to victories over Georgetown and No. 12 Penn, as the team crossed the finish line first in 5:30.80 to hoist the Madeira Cup and lead the Big Red to the James Wray Memorial Trophy.
As a sophomore (2017-18)
• Coxed the varsity eight throughout the 2017-18 season.
• Helped the varsity eight win the Third Level Final at the 2018 IRA National Championships, placing 13th overall.
• Coxed the varsity eight to a third-place finish in the Petite Final at the 2018 EARC Sprints to beat its seed with a ninth place finish overall.
• Coxed the crew that defeated Syracuse and Navy to win the Goes Cup.
As a freshman (2016-17)
• Coxed the varsity eight throughout his rookie season.
• As the coxswain, he helped the crew take a sixth-place finish in the Petite Final at the 2017 IRA National Championships, placing twelfth overall.
• Coxed the varsity eight to a solid victory in the Petite Final at the 2017 EARC Sprints with a time that would have placed them ahead of sixth-place Brown’s pace in the Grand Finals.
• Also the coxswain for the crew when they defeated Penn, winning the Madeira Cup.
Prior to Cornell
• Spent four years on the New Trier High School rowing team, serving as coxswain of the men’s freshmen eight that won a gold medal at the 2013 SRAA National Championships.
• Also coxed the men’s lightweight eight into the Grand Finals at the 2016 Youth Nationals.
Personal
• Thomas James Brittingham is the son of Jim and Kara Brittingham and he has an older brother and an older sister.
• Enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
