Junior Season — 2016-17
Paton competed with the Big Red's 'B' team at the Cornell Invitational, where a final-round 73 boosted him up to an individual finish of 54th. His scoring average of 77.67 (plus-6.7) ranked sixth on the team.

Sophomore Season — 2015-16
Paton appeared in three tournaments, helping the Big Red to a second-place team finish at the season-opening Colgate Invitational. He competed on Cornell's 'B' team at the Cornell Invitational two weeks later, where his second-round 73 proved to be his best round of the year. He later finished 19th among the limited field at the Cornell Spring South Florida Invitational. Paton's scoring average through eight rounds was 78.13 — nearly a full stroke better than his freshman year.

Freshman Season — 2014-15
Paton worked his way into becoming one of the team's regular competitors, finishing fourth on the squad with a 79.12 scoring average. His best round was a 1-over 73 on the Lakeland Course at The Quechee Club Invitational — his first round competing with the Big Red's scoring team. He went on to finish in 24th place, which was his best individual finish outside of the 10th-place finish at the limited-field RTJ Individual Shootout. His 34th-place finish at the Ivy League Championships was third-best on the team.

Prior to Cornell
Paton joins the Big Red after finishing 11th in the Rochester District Golf Association Men's Championship and qualifying for the State Amateur. In 2013, he finished second in the PGA Junior Series Penn State event, carding a score of 5-under par 67 in the second round. In 2012, he placed third at the Future Collegians World Tour Newport National and seventh at the NYS Junior Championship. Paton also competed on the tennis and field hockey teams in high school, leading the field hockey team in scoring during his senior season.

Personal
Jeremy Paton is the son of John and Sue Patton, and he has a brother and a sister. Both of his parents are Cornell graduates, and his brother is also currently attended Cornell. He is enrolled in the College of Engineering.
