Biography
• Team Captain (2019-20)
As a senior (2019-20)
• Elected team captain during his senior season.
• Competed in the 100- and 200-breaststroke at the Ivy League Championships, qualifying for the A Final and placing fourth overall in the 100-breaststroke (54.42).
• Won the B Final of the 200-breaststroke with the third-fastest time in Cornell history (1:57.30), finishing ninth and posting an NCAA B cut time.
• Swam on a pair of relays at Ivies, including the school-record breaking 400-medley relay that finished third overall in 3:11.62.
• Also helped the 200-medley relay to a third place showing, as the team posted the third-fastest mark (1:26.64) in the Big Red record books.
• Won the 100-breaststroke (54.58) at the Zippy Invitational, in addition to guiding the 200-medley relay and 400-medley relay teams to victories and a pair of Cornell all-time top-10 marks.
• Swept the 100- and 200-breaststroke events in Ivy League dual meet action against Yale.
• Picked up dual meet victories in the 100-breaststroke against St. Bonaventure, Columbia, and Brown as well.
• Placed second in both the 100- and 200-breaststroke events against Dartmouth and Harvard.
As a junior (2018-19)
• Swam the third-fastest 100 breast time in school history with a 54.00 at the Ivy Championship as part of a ninth-place finish and an NCAA B cut time.
• Placed 15th overall in the 200 breast at the Ivy meet.
• Member of the 200 and 400 medley relay teams that registered top 10 all-time swims at the conference meet.
• Swam the second leg of the 200 medley relay that finished seventh with a 1:27.80, No. 4 all-time at Cornell.
• The 400 medley relay team, which he swam the second leg of, had the ninth-fastest time ever at Cornell with 3:14.94.
• Won the 200 breast, placed second in the 100 against Harvard and Dartmouth.
• Won the 100 breast and was third in the 200 at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational.
• Took first in both breaststroke events in dual meets against Columbia, Yale and Brown.
• Captured the 100 breast race in the dual meet win at Bryant.
As a sophomore (2017-18)
• Scored in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke events at the Ivy League Championship.
• Became the fourth Cornell swimmer to go under two minutes in the 200 breast, posting an NCAA B time of 1:58.52 in taking 11th at the Ivy meet.
• Took 15th in the 100 breast in 54.71, a mark that sits fifth on the school's all-time list.
• Had four runner-up finishes in dual meets, including taking second in both the 100 and 200 breast against Brown.
As a freshman (2016-17)
• Posted the school's fifth-fastest time in the 200 (2:00.87) and the seventh-fastest time in the 100 (55.29) breast in school history.
• Set career best times in scoring at the Ivy League championships in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and the 400 IM.
• Took 13th overall in the 100 breast, 14th in the 200 breast and 19th in the 400 IM.
• Had a pair of second place finishes in the 100 and 200 breast in the dual meet against Columbia.
• Had 10 races with top four finishes against Ivy League opponents in duals.
Prior to Cornell
• Brown was a two-time all-Long Island swimmer while competing at Garden City HS.
• Swimming the breaststroke and the IM, he was part of four sectional title teams and was a part of the 2015 New York state champions.
• He captained the team as a senior.
• Named Nassau Swimmer of the Year as a senior.
• Swam club for the Long Island Aquatic Club.
Personal
• Ryan Alexander Brown is the son of Richard and Laura Brown and has two brothers and a sister.
• He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the SC Johnson College of Business.
