As a Senior (2016-17)
Jones once again had a successful track season in the sprints, notching seven top-three finishes in the indoor season and 11 in outdoors. She was a scorer for the team at the Ivy League Indoor Track and Field Championships in the 60, taking third. At outdoor Heps, the sprinter was a triple-scorer, placing third in the 100 and 200 and second in the 4x100 relay. She also had an exceptional outing at the IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, grabbing second in the 200 and 4x100 relay and third in the 100. Jones’ strong season earned her a trip to the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round where she took 38th in the 100 and 46th in the 200. She holds the school record in the 4x100 and 4x200 relays.
As a Junior (2015-16)
Jones had a stellar junior season in the short sprints for the Big Red. Indoors, she claimed an individual title in the 200 meter dash at the Indoor Upstate Challenge and then went on to finish third in the 60 meter dash and fourth in the 200 meter dash at the Ivy League Indoor Track and Field Championships as well as sixth in the 60 and seventh in the 200 at the IC4A/ECAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. Outdoors, she took home first place in the 100 at the UC Riverside Spring Break Invitational and was also part of a first place 4x100 meter relay team at the Bison Outdoor Classic. Jones had a successful outdoor Heptagonals, taking second in the 200 meter with a personal best 23.84, fourth in the 100, and third in the 4x100 meter relay before going on to finish fifth overall in the 100 at the IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
As a Sophomore (2014-15)
Jones continued her success in the sprints as a sophomore, earning the no. 6 spot on the Cornell all-time list in the 60 meters, finishing in 7.62 at the indoor Upstate Challenge. She also ran the ninth-best 200 in program history, crossing the line in 24.74 for 14th at Indoor ECAC Championships. Outdoors, she picked up a personal best in the 100 with a time of 11.89, good for no. 6 on the program charts. Her 4x100 relay team set a new school and Ivy League record with an impressive time of 45.21 to win the outdoor Ivy League title in the event. Individually, Jones finished 10th in the 200 and 11th in the 100 at Outdoor Hpetagonals and 11th in both events at outdoor ECAC Championships.
As a Freshman (2013-14)
Jones started off her career at Cornell with a bang, reaching the finals in both the Indoor and Outdoor ECAC championships in multiple events. She finished seventh at the Indoor Heps in the 60m dash at 7.74 and sixth in the 200 at 25.12, contributing one point to Cornell’s overall fifth-place finish. Jones competed in both events in the preliminaries of the Indoor ECACs, repeating her 60m time and improving her 200 to 24.78 seconds. At the Outdoor Heps, Jones finished fifth in the 100 at 11.94 and helped her team to finish fourth in the 4x100 relay. She continued on to reach the semis in the 100 and the finals in the 4x100 at the Outdoor ECACs, leading her teammates to another fourth-place finish in the relay.
Before Cornell
The state sprint champion from Connecticut, Jones won the class and state open meets this past year. At 12.03 for 100 meters and 24.72 for 200 meters, she should impact the Cornell team immediately. She was New England’s runner-up in her events as a senior.
Personal
Adrian Tamerah Jones is the daughter of Harold and Verona Jones. She has one brother, Emmanuel, and one sister, Brittany. Jones is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
