Biography


• NFHCA National Academic Squad selection (2014, 2016)

As a junior (2016)
• Started all 17 games for the Big Red and finished as the team’s second leading scorer.
• Tallied career-highs in points (22), goals (8) and assists (7), all of which were good for second on the team.
• Ranked ninth in the Ivy League, and 79th in the nation, with 1.29 points per game.
• Registered .047 goals per game, good for 10th in the conference and 90th in the country, while her 0.35 assists per game were good for 11th in the Ancient Eight and 109th in the nation.
• Posted two game-winning goals on the season.
•  Named to the 2016 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad.

As a sophomore (2015)
• Started all 17 games during her sophomore season.
• Finished the season ranked fourth on the team in goals (five) and fifth overall in points (15), with four of her goals coming vs. Ivy League competition.
• Registered a career-high two goals vs. Columbia and also scored the overtime game-winner in the season finale at Dartmouth.
• Also registered a career-high three assists vs. Lehigh, including two as the team’s stick stopper.

As a freshman (2014)
• A co-recipient of the team’s Most Improved Player award, Carlson grew by leaps and bounds during her freshman season, earning starts in the Big Red’s final three contests.
• Registered more than 45 minutes action in each of the Big Red's final four games, three of which were in the Ivy League.
• Tallied three goals on the year, scoring against Colgate, Lehigh and No. 20 Maine.
•  Named to the 2014 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad.

At Canyon Crest Academy
• Earned four varsity letters at Canyon Crest Academy where she helped her squad to the 2013 CIF-San Diego Section Division II Championship after a pair of runner-up finishes in 2011 and 2012 and a quarterfinal finish in 2010.
• As a senior, was a first-team San Diego Section All-CIF selection, was named to the High School Sport's Association all-star field hockey team and was given the San Diego Field Hockey Official's Association Sportsmanship Award.
• A two-time San Diego Section All-CIF Division II first-team selection, she was also named the Union Tribune San Diego Section Player to Watch in 2013.
• Was named a first-team All-Palomar League selection in 2012 and 2013 and helped her team to a Palomar League championship as a junior.
• Was also named second-team All-North County Times in 2012.
• Named her team’s offensive MVP in 2013 and was named the San Diego Union Tribune Prep Athlete of the Week twice during her career.
• An outstanding student, Carlson was named to both the Union Tribune San Diego All-Academic Team and the CIF San Diego Section All-Academic Team as a junior and senior.
• Given the CIF San Diego Section CYMER Scholar Athlete of the Year award, awarded to the athlete with the highest GPA on each team.
• Also lettered four times in lacrosse.

Personal
• Katherine Marie Carlson is the daughter of Stephen and Kimberly Carlson and she has a twin brother.
• Her uncle Duard Williams attended Cornell.
• She is enrolled in the College of Engineering.
