Cornell University Athletics

As a senior (2018-19)

• Competed exclusively in top third of lineup, posting a 4-11 record.
• Rallied from two games down to win in five at No. 1 position against Dartmouth on Jan. 13.
• Strung together three straight victories in February, including two of three at the Kurtz Cup — which Cornell won.
• Qualified for CSA Individual National Championships, competing in West bracket of Holleran Cup.
 

As a junior (2017-18)

• Competed exclusively at the No. 4 spot with a 5-10 record.
• Recorded a pair of victories against Williams and Dickinson at the season-opening Cornell Round Robin.
• Won twice in Ivy League play against opponents from Dartmouth and Brown.
 

As a sophomore (2016-17)

• Posted a 6-8 record, primarily competing at the No. 6 position.
• Won five of first seven matches, all in three games.
• After dropping first two games of seventh-place match against an opponent from Columbia at the Howe Cup, rallied to win in five to help the Big Red sweep the opening rotation and ultimately defeat the Lions in the final match of the year.
 

As a freshman (2015-16)

• 18 appearances were the most among Cornell freshmen, with her final record coming in at an even 9-9.
• All but one match came from the bottom half of the order, with 11 appearances at the No. 7 position.
• Got off to a hot start by winning six of first eight collegiate matches, including Ivy League victories against opponents from Brown and Columbia.
• Win in the match against the Lions was particularly noteworthy after storming back from two games down to win in the fifth, 16-14.
• That performance led the team to team Match of the Year honors at the postseason banquet. 
 

Prior to Cornell

• Earned US Squash High School All-America status.
• Helped the Potomac School to the Mid-Atlantic Squash Organization Team and Individual tournaments in each of her three seasons.
• Worked her way to the No. 1 position as a senior, when she also served as team captain.
• Highest national ranking was 15th in the GU19 division.
 

Personal

• Nghi Nguyen is the daughter of Tuan Linh Nguyen and Thieu Anh Phan, and she has one sister.
• Enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
