Biography
Senior Season — 2017-18
Brail was named to the Academic All-Ivy Team and a College Squash Association Scholar Athlete. He was selected as one of the Big Red's qualifiers for the CSA Individual Championships, advancing to the semifinals of his bracket. He finished with a 6-15 record, competing primarily at the No. 3 position.
Junior Season — 2016-17
Brail was 4-7 while competing exclusively in the middle third of the order. He contributed a pair of victories in the Big Red's three-match sweep of the Cornell Round Robin in November, then clawed out the team's lone point with a five-set victory over Penn in the regular-season finale. He kept the momentum his next time out, rallying from two down to win in five against an opponent from Navy in the Big Red's Hoehn Cup quarterfinal victory over Navy.
Sophomore Season — 2015-16
Brail posted an 8-7 record from the Nos. 4 and 5 positions in the order. He won his only match of the season to go to five sets, rallying from a 2-1 deficit to defeated his opponent from George Washington in the Big Red's Hoehn Cup semifinal victory. He was 2-4 in Ivy League matches, including a three-set victory in Cornell's upset win over Princeton on Feb. 12.
Freshman Season — 2014-15
Brail stepped right into the lineup and notched a 10-6 record in team matches, which gave him the most victories among the squad's five freshmen. He competed multiple times at positions 4-8 in the lineup, led by a 3-1 mark from the No. 7 spot. He was 4-3 in Ivy League matches, including the clinching point in the Big Red's 5-4 victory over Princeton on Feb. 8 — which was Cornell's fourth victory in 51 all-time matches against the Tigers.
Prior to Cornell
Brail played from the No. 1 position at Riverdale Country School for five years, helping the team to the 2012 U.S. High School Team Squash Championship. He was ranked second in the nation by US Squash for the BU17 group during the 2012-13 season, and he was also ranked 31st in the European Squash Federation rankings during the same period. He was later ranked 18th nationally for high school students in 2014 and has been ranked in the adult Top 50. Brail also played soccer and tennis in high school, serving as captain and leading the soccer team in goal-scoring and was selected to play in the NYC Mayors Cup Best in the City All-Star Game.
Personal
Jordan Marcus Brail is the son of David Brail and Julie Marcus, and he has four sisters. His mother played tennis at Emory, and he has one uncle that played tennis at Penn and another uncle who played tennis at Dartmouth. He is enrolled in the School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
