Biography

As a senior (2019-20)

• Named a first team All-American by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.
• NCAA qualifier at 133 pounds, seeded #3.
• Won his second EIWA title win a 3-1 (SV-1) win over Lehigh's Nick Farro in the finals.
• Named as a finalist for the 2020 Dan Hodge Trophy awarded to the nation's most outstanding wrestler.
• Named first-team All-Ivy.
• Finished the season undefeated at 32-0, winning 27 matches by decision and 3 with bonus points.
• Owned a 9-0 record against ranked opponents.
• Went 5-0 in Ivy competition to finish his career 15-0 against Ivy opponents.
• Member of the U23 Freestyle world team.
• Placed first at the Cliff Keen Invitational and the Cornell Open.


As a junior (2018-19)

• Earned his second NCAA appearance at 133 pounds after a 28-6 season.
• Won his first EIWA title win a 9-4 win over American’s Josh Terao in the finals.
• Named first-team All-Ivy.
• Entered the NCAA tournament as the winner of 14 consecutive matches, including three straight over top 20 opponents.
• Of his 69 career matches, 34 have been decided by a takedown or less and/or in overtime (25-9 - including 11-3 this season).
• Is a perfect 10-0 in Ivy League duals for his career.
• All six of his losses came against NCAA qualifiers, with three coming by a total of four points.
• Won the 2018 Binghamton Open with a 7-5 victory in the finals against top-10 ranked, 125-pound teammate Vitali Arujau.
• Was 26-6 at 133 pounds, winning two early season matches after being bumped up to 141 pounds for a pair of duals.
• Won his first eight matches of the season before suffering a 4-3 loss to then-No. 4 Luke Pletcher of Ohio State — a result he avenged with a 2-1 tiebreaker victory in the season’s final dual meet.
 

As a sophomore (2017-18)

• Was the EIWA runner-up and an NCAA qualifier at 133 pounds, completing his first year as a starter with a 23-12 overall mark.
• Unanimous first-team All-Ivy League selection.
• Advanced to the EIWA finals with a semifinal victory over top-seeded and fifth-ranked Austin DeSanto of Drexel.
• Went 5-0 against Ivy opponents in dual meet competition.
• Of his 12 losses this season, seven were decided by a takedown or less.
• Was 3-8 against ranked opponents, with four of the losses coming by a single point.
• Posted a 13-7 record in matches decided by a takedown or less.
• Earned his first win at NCAAs in the back draw, topping Ben Thornton of Purdue 10-4.
• Won the New York State Intercollegiate meet at 133 after placing eighth at the Binghamton Open.
• Was 2-2 at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational with a win over nationally-ranked Cam Sykora of North Dakota State.
 

As a freshman (2015-16)

• Did not see varsity action.
 

Prior to Cornell

• Tucker was a two-time prep national champion and four-time national finalist while attending Blair Academy.
• He wrestled at weights from 103 to 132 during his career.
• Served as team captain as a senior.
• Ranked among the top 25 recruits nationally according to the Associated Wrestling Press.
 

Personal

• Charles Goldsberry Tucker is the son of Reginald and Carol Tucker and has an older sister and younger brother.
• He is enrolled in the College of Engineering.
