As a Senior (2018-19)
• Graduated with school records in the weight (63-10) and hammer (181-8) throws.
• Moved to third all-time in the indoor shot put with a best toss of 48-6.
• Finished fourth all-time in the outdoor shot put (47-9 1/4).
• Took third in the weight and fifth in the shot put at Indoor Heps.
• Posted 11 top three event finishes during the indoor season, including three first-place efforts in the weight and shot.
• Placed third in the shot and fourth in the Hammer at Outdoor Heps.
• Broke the school record in the Hammer during her senior year (179-11 to 181-8).
• Earned a personal best in the discus during her senior year.
• Won the team's Blanford Award for scoring the most points over her four year career and the Dr. George Ladas Award for being the squad's best thrower.
As a Junior (2017-18)
• Second-Team All-Ivy (Indoor Weight Throw)
• Seventh in school history in the hammer throw (175-1).
• Scored at both Indoor and Outdoor Heps.
• Second in the weight throw (60-9 1/4) and ninth in the shot put (43-7) at indoors.
• Third in the hammer at outdoors with a personal-record toss.
• Set new personal best in the discus at the Pomona-Pitzer Invite (127-3).
• Tallied three event wins and 18 top-10 finishes.
As a Sophomore (2016-17)
• Continued to be a valuable member of the Cornell throws squad as a sophomore, earning 26 top 10 finishes with her performances in the shot put, discus, hammer and weight throws.
• Indoors, never finished outside the top 10 in either the weight throw or shot put.
• Won the weight throw at the Southern Tier Collegiate Open and hit a seasonal-best 57’4.75” in the event at the Ivy League Indoor Track and Field Championships to finish seventh.
• Also finished seventh in the shot put at indoor Heps (44’7.5”).
• Outdoors, finished third in the hammer throw at the Big Red Outdoor Invitational with a personal best 166’4”.
• At outdoor Heps, grabbed a ninth place finish in the shot put (43’8”).
As a Freshman (2015-16)
• Proved to be one of the Big Red’s top throwers during her freshman season, competing in the shot put, discus, hammer and weight throws.
• Indoors, claimed seven individual titles, four in the weight throw and three in the shot put.
• At the Ivy League Indoor Track and Field Championships, took first in the weight throw (63’10.25”) and third in the shot put (45’11.25”).
• Outdoors, finished first in the shot put in two meets and took second in the event at the outdoor Heptagonals (44’8.25”) and fifth at the IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships (25’0.25”).
Before Cornell
• Morris, an All-American in the shot put, discus and hammer, was one of the top throwers in Georgia, breaking the Etowah High School, county and region records in shot put and discus.
• Won a Georgia state championship title in the shot put as a junior and USATF state championship titles in the shot put twice and the discus once.
• As the second female athlete in school history to place first in any state event, she holds personal records of 44 feet, 10 inches in the shot put, 142-11 in the discus, and 53-10 in the weight.
• Was the Etowah High School Most Outstanding Female Athlete in 2015 and a Principal’s Award Winner.
Personal
• Leena Leanne Morris is the daughter of Leon and Allison Morris.
• She has a younger brother, Livingston, and is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
