As a Junior (2017-18)
• Competed at Indoor Heps, placing eighth in the DMR (10:18.15).
• Had two runner-up finishes on the year in the DMR (10:36.74) at the Greg Page Relays and the 4x800 (7:55.92) at the Southern Tier Collegiate Open.
• Recorded 10 top-10 finishes.
• Took on the cross country course three times, beginning with a
51st-place finish at the quad meet with Columbia, Brown and NYU.
• Also took
135th in the open race at the Paul Short Run before capping off the season strong, taking sixth at the
Reif Memorial Run.
As a Sophomore (2016-17)
• In second cross country season, ran in three races with a season-best performance 12th place finish at the John Reif Memorial Run.
• Had a solid sophomore campaign on the track, earning 12 top 10 finishes in primarily middle-distance and relay events.
• Indoors, was a member of a first place 4x800 squad at the Greg Page Relays, a second place 4x800 squad at the Upstate Challenge, a second place 4x400 team at the Robert J. Kane Invitational and a third place Distance Medley Relay team at the IC4A Indoor Track and Field Championships.
• As an individual, a pair of third place finishes in the 800 during the indoor season at the Robert J. Kane Invitational and the Marc Deneault Memorial before running a year-best 1:55.45 for second at the Cabin Fever Invitational.
• Also had a fourth place finish during the outdoor season at the Big Red Invitational
As a Freshman (2015-16)
• Ran in three cross country races as a freshman.
• Season-best performance came in a 23rd-place finish at the John Reif Memorial.
• On the track, began the indoor season by helping the 4x800 relay team to wins at Greg Page Relays and at the Cornell Indoor Upstate Challenge.
• Individually, placed seventh in the 800 at the Cornell Sunday Invitational and fifth at the Marc Deneault Invitational.
• Outdoors, helped the 4x4 team to a win at the Cornell Outdoor Upstate Challenge.
• Also finished fifth at the same meet in the 800, and posted the same result at the Big Red Invitational.
Before Cornell
• A captain and four-time letter winner in track and cross country, Phillips was an Ohio state champion in the 4x800 relay and was named to the Plain Dealer All Star Team.
• He was also a four-time Academic All-Ohioan and a member of the National Honor Society and Cum Laude Society.
