Biography

• IRA All-Academic Team (2019)
 
As a senior (2018-19)
• Rowed in the first varsity eight boat during his senior year.
• Guided the Big Red to its eighth IRA National Championship, and the team’s fourth national championship in the last five years. 
• Member of the first Varsity eight boat that was named the 2019 IRA Lightweight Crew of the Year.
• Rowed in the first varsity eight boat at the EARC Sprints.
• Led Cornell to its 25th Matthews Trophy.
• Helped the Big Red win the Geiger Cup, Platt Cup, and Harriet Trophy.

As a junior (2017-18)

• Rowed in the varsity eight during his junior season.
• Led the crew to victories over Penn, MIT, and Dartmouth.
• Helped the Cornell varsity eight take sixth overall at Eastern Sprints.
• Rowed to a second place finish in the Petite Finals at IRAs.

As a sophomore (2016-17)
• Consistent member of the second varsity eight throughout his sophomore season.
• Rowed the crew to victory over Columbia and MIT.
• Also helped the second varsity eight defeat Dartmouth.
• Rowed with the varsity four without a coxswain at the IRA National Championships, earning a bronze medal in the Grand Final.

As a freshman (2015-16) 
• Rowed in the third varsity eight that took the silver medal at the 2016 Eastern Sprints.
• Helped the crew earn the Leonard Cup with a win over Penn and Harvard, as well as posting victories over Yale, Columbia, MIT, and Dartmouth.

Prior to Cornell
• Earned three varsity letters in rowing at Walt Whitman High School, serving as captain during his senior season.
• Was a 2015 first-team All-Metropolitan selection and earned the team’s MVP award that same year.
• Also earned one varsity letter in cross country and one varsity letter in track.
• As a member of the Thompson Boat Center, he won four medals at various USRowing Club Nationals, earning gold medals in the Men’s Junior U18 Eight (2015) and Men’s Junior U16 Eight (2013), a silver in the Men’s Junior U18 Eight (2014), and a bronze in the Men’s Junior U18 Four.  
 
Personal
• Nicolas Robert Anderson is the son of Mark and Cristiana Anderson and he has one older brother and one older sister.
• He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
