Biography

As a sophomore (2019-20)

• Guided the lightweight varsity eight to a second place finish in Flight 1 at the Princeton Chase, posting a time of 13:14.933.
• Coxed the Cornell A 4+ boat in Flight 1 at the Cornell Autumn Classic, helping the group clock a time of 13:24.08.
• Guided the Cornell C 8+ boat in Flight 2 at the Cornell Autumn Classic, recording a time of 12:14.86.
• Spring 2020 season canceled due to COVID-19.

As a freshman (2018-19)

• Coxed the fourth varsity eight boat against Dartmouth during his freshman campaign.

Prior to Cornell

• Earned two varsity letters as a coxswain at Gonzaga College High School.
• 2018 First-Team All-Metropolitan
• Four-time gold medalist (2014-2017) at Head of the Occoquan.
• Two-time silver medalist (2017-2018) at Head of the Schuylkill.
• Three-time medalist (2015 silver, 2016 bronze, 2018 silver) at Washington Metropolitan Interscholastic Rowing Association Championships (WMIRA).
• Two-time silver medalist (2016, 2018) at Mid-Atlantic Youth Championships.
• Placed fourth in the boys’ varsity eight at the 2018 SRAA National Championship.
• Bronze medalist in the boys’ varsity eight at the 2018 Stotesbury Regatta.

Personal

• John McGuire Jaicks is the son of Ron and Patty Jaicks and he has one brother.
• Brother, Chris, was a member of the lightweight rowing team at MIT.
• Enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
