Biography

As a senior (2019-20)

• Helped the Cornell C 4+ boat to a ninth place finish in Flight 1 at the Cornell Autumn Classic, as the boat completed the race in 12:48.49.
• Guided the Cornell B 8+ boat to a top-10 finish in Flight 2 at the Cornell Autumn Classic, as the squad placed 10th out of 22 boats with a time of 11:48.43.
• Spring 2020 season canceled due to COVID-19.

As a junior (2018-19)

• Rowed in three regattas as a junior, alternating between the third varsity eight and fourth varsity eight boats.
• Competed on the third varsity eight against Harvard/George Washington and Yale/Princeton (Carnegie Cup).
• Helped the third varsity eight finish second in their race against Harvard and George Washington with a time of 5:59.50, as the Big Red defeated George Washington but fell to Harvard.
• Rowed on the fourth varsity eight against Navy and Syracuse, guiding Cornell to a third place finish out of four boats with a time of 5:56.40.

As a freshman (2016-17)

• Began his rookie season as a member of the third varsity eight before moving to the fourth varsity eight at the 2017 EARC Sprints.
• Rowed the third varsity eight to a second-place finish in their heat at the Goes Cup, falling to Navy yet defeating Syracuse.

Prior to Cornell

• Earned three varsity letters at St. Augustine Prep, rowing in the five-seat of the varsity eight during his senior season.
• A two-time Press All-Stars selection, he won a gold medal at the Atlantic County Championship, before taking the bronze at the Philadelphia Championships.
• As a junior, Hartnett helped the junior eight to a gold medal at the bronze Atlantic County Championship.
• That same season, he won bronze medals in the junior eight at the SRAA Championship, the Philadelphia Championship, and the 2015 Stotesbury Cup.

Personal

• Nicholas Hartnett is the son of the late John and Hanna Hartnett.
• Enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
