Biography
As a sophomore (2019-20)
• Rowed on the Cornell D 4+ boat in Flight 1 at the Cornell Autumn Classic, as the team completed the race in 12:59.53.
• Guided the Cornell B 8+ boat to a top-10 finish in Flight 2 at the Cornell Autumn Classic, as the squad placed 10th out of 22 boats with a time of 11:48.43.
• Spring 2020 season canceled due to COVID-19.
As a freshman (2018-19)
• Rowed in six regattas during freshman campaign, competing primarily on the second varsity eight.
• Guided the second varsity eight to a fourth place finish in the Petite Final at the 2019 Eastern Sprints, placing 10th overall.
• Helped the second varsity eight place sixth in the Petite Final at the 2019 IRA National Championships, finishing 12th overall.
• Led the second varsity eight to wins over No. 12 Penn and Georgetown, crossing the finish line in 5:38.97 to help Cornell secure the James Wray Memorial Trophy.
Prior to Cornell
• Was a member of the Jacksonville Rowing Club.
• Gold medal in the men’s junior single sculls at the 2016 Florida State Rowing Association Championships.
• Gold medal in the men’s varsity single sculls at the 2017 Florida State Rowing Association Championships
• Placed 11th in the men’s double sculls at the 2016 USRowing Youth National Championships.
• Took sixth in the men’s double sculls at the 2017 USRowing Youth National Championships.
• Finished fifth overall in the men’s double sculls at the 2018 USRowing Youth National Championships.
Personal
• Ian Kai Mignone is the son of Peter and Wendy Mignone and he has one sister.
• Enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
