Biography

As a junior (2019-20)

• Rowed on the men’s championship four boat at the Head of the Charles Regatta, helping Cornell to a top-10 finish, as the Big Red placed 10th in 16:23.94.
• Helped the Cornell B 4+ boat to a seventh place finish in Flight 1 at the Cornell Autumn Classic, as the boat completed the race in 12:41.78.
• Guided the Cornell B 8+ boat to a top-10 finish in Flight 2 at the Cornell Autumn Classic, as the squad placed 10th out of 22 boats with a time of 11:48.43.
• Spring 2020 season canceled due to COVID-19.

As a sophomore (2018-19)

• Competed in eight regattas as a sophomore, rowing primarily from the fourth seat on the second varsity eight boat.
• Guided the second varsity eight to a fourth place finish in the Petite Final at the 2019 EARC Sprints, placing 10th overall.
• Helped the second varsity eight to a sixth place showing in the Petite Final at the 2019 IRA National Championships, finishing 12th overall.
• Led the second varsity eight to wins over No. 12 Penn and Georgetown, crossing the finish line in 5:38.97 to help Cornell secure the James Wray Memorial Trophy.

As a freshman (2017-18)

• Rowed in the fourth varsity eight throughout the 2017-18 season.
• Helped the fourth varsity eight to victory in the Petite Final at the 2018 EARC Sprints to take seventh place finish overall.

Prior to Cornell

• Spent four years with the Humboldt Bay Rowing Association.
• Two-year captain.
• Won gold medals in the men’s eight and men’s quad at the 2015 CanAmMex Regatta.
• Earned a silver medal in the men’s double at the 2015 CanAmMex Regatta.
• Advanced to the Grand Finals of the 2016 Southwest Junior Rowing Championship Regatta.
• Rowed in the 2016 Junior Nationals.

Personal

• Isaac Obsidian Murphy is the son of John and Caroline Murphy and he has three sisters.
• Enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
