Biography
As a junior (2019-20)
• Did not compete (Spring 2020 season canceled due to COVID-19).
As a sophomore (2018-19)
• Competed in eight regattas during sophomore campaign.
• Showed great versatility, rowing on multiple boats and in varying seats before finding a home on the third varsity eight.
• Guided the third varsity eight to a fifth place finish in the Petite Final at the 2019 EARC Sprints, placing 11th overall.
• Helped the third varsity eight win the Third Level Final at the 2019 IRA National Championships, finishing 13th overall.
• Rowed on the first varsity eight at the Las Vegas Invitational, helping the team cross the finish line in 5:48.80 to down Oregon State and Marist.
• Helped the third varsity eight to a second place finish against Harvard and George Washington, as the team defeated George Washington but fell to Harvard.
As a freshman (2017-18)
• Rowed in both the varsity eight and the second varsity eight during the 2017-18 season.
• Helped the varsity eight win the Third Level Final at the 2018 IRA National Championships, placing 13th overall.
• Led the varsity eight to a third-place finish in the Petite Final at the 2018 EARC Sprints to beat its seed with a ninth place finish overall.
• Rowed in the second varsity eight during the Cup season, including a victory over Penn to help the Big Red take home the James Wray Memorial Trophy for the 11th consecutive season.
Prior to Cornell
• Was a member of Community Rowing Inc.
• Won gold in the varsity eight at the 2017 Northeast Youth Championships, helping Community Rowing Inc. earn the overall and men’s team Points Trophy.
• Finished in the top six in the varsity eight at the 2017 Youth National Championships
• Took bronze in the men’s heavyweight quad at the 2016 Club Nationals
• Earned a top 10 finish in the junior men’s eight at the 2016 Head of the Charles Regatta
Personal
• Nicholas Kuniholm Potter is the son of Steve and Susan Potter ’88 and he has one sister.
• Mother, Susan [Kuniholm] Potter, one aunt, Hope Kuniholm, and one cousin, Miles McCredie, all attended Cornell.
• Enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
