Biography
As a sophomore (2019-20)
• Moved up a division in both fences and flat following her freshman season, competing in open fences and intermediate flat as a sophomore.
• A mainstay of the Big Red show list over the course of the season, competing at eight shows.
• Notched four top-three individual finishes, including a victory in intermediate fences at Cornell’s first home show of the season.
• Placed among the top-three of her open fences classes in a pair of shows at Alfred and Cornell’s second home show of the season, placing second at the Oxley Equestrian Center.
Prior to Cornell
• Rode for four years throughout high school as part of the USEF High School Athlete Program.
• Finished eighth overall at the 2017 USEF Junior Hunter Finals.
• Named the 2016 NCHJA Pre-Green Year End Champion.
• Placed sixth at the 2017 NCHJA Year End Championships in 3’3 juniors.
Personal
• Anjali Velu is the daughter of Vijay and Arthi Velu.
• She is enrolled in the College of Human Ecology.
