At Cornell
Despite missing much of the 2007 season due to injury, DePaola still managed to have a strong year for the Big Red, scoring four goals, including the game-winners vs. Lehigh and Columbia, and added one assist for nine points. Her four goals moved her up to seventh place in Cornell history for career goals (16), while her nine points moved her into ninth place on the career list (39). She finished the year ranked eighth in the Ivy League in goals per game (.44) and points per game (1.00), and her .727 shot on goal percentage led the Big Red among players with at least 10 shots. DePaola registered two game-winning goals on the season, moving her up to fourth all-time in Cornell history of career game-winning goals (7). She is a player with explosiveness and excellent stick skills who has seen her production drop over the past two season due to a myriad of injuries, but she has shown the ability to put up big numbers, as evidenced by her outstanding freshman season. Injuries limited DePaola’s playing time during 2006, seeing action in 10 games and making nine starts. She registered three goals on the season, including the game-winner vs. Columbia, and tallied one assist for seven points on the year. DePaola capped an unbelievable rookie campaign by becoming the first-ever Cornell freshman to garner first-team All-Ivy honors in field hockey. Her nine goals and five assists led the team and ranked her second in the conference in both categories. Likewise, her 23 points were the most scored in a season since 2000. DePaola also registered a team-high four game-winning goals during the year. She was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week twice and earned the Big Red’s team offensive MVP award. She is a three-time selection to the NFHCA National Academic Squad.
At Wall HS
A two-time all-division and all-conference selection, DePaola was a Shore Conference all-star her senior year after leading her team in scoring for the third consecutive season. She helped Wall HS win back-to-back conference championships and she was twice named to the East Coast all-star team. DePaola participated in the National Festival twice, helping Jersey Intensity capture the 2004 gold medal.
