* All-Time Letter Winners (1995-present)
1995-96
Equestrian is granted varsity status after years of competing at the club level. The team's first competition on the varsity level came at the Cazenovia College Intercollegiate Hose Show, with the Big Red placing fifth out of 14 schools under head coach Sue Elbrecht.
1996-97
Cornell hires its first full-time coach in program history when Terry Bradner takes over. Three riders qualified to compete in the regional championships.
1997-98
Under the direction of first-year head coach Lisa Eklund, the Big Red wins the Cornell Show at Oxley Equestrian Center, its first-ever show win. The team backs that up by taking first in the Ivy League Show and finished in the top three in five of nine shows during the season. Cornell qualified 10 riders for regionals.
1998-99
The Big Red won the All-Ivy League Invitational by edging Brown. Cornell claims four individual champions at the show. Cornell qualified six for regionals and three for the zone championships.
1999-2000
First-year head coach Chris Mitchell takes over the equestrian program and qualifies three riders for the zone championships. In all, 12 student-athletes qualified to compete at the regional championships, with three more earning a spot at the Zone show.
2000-01
The team wins the Ivy Show with five riders winning ribbons. Missy Potter qualified for nationals in the walk-trot canter division after finishing as the Zone II reserve champion.
2001-02
The Big Red wins the Skidmore fall show, the Morrisville spring show and its own show at Oxley Equestrian Center.
2002-03
The Big Red wins the Ivy show and qualifies a pair of riders for the IHSA nationals. Gillian Pech placed second overall to earn national reserve champion in individual novice over fences, while Linda Nguyen was sixth overall in the individual walk-trot.
2003-04
Cornell takes home titles at the Hartwick and Skidmore fall shows, then comes back to claim titles at two home shows and ties for first at Skidmore in the spring. The Big Red also wins the Ivy Show, earns four reserve champions at regionals and places eighth at the Tournament of Champions.
2004-05
Cornell is the reserve regional championship team with show wins at Morrisville and Hartwick during the spring season. The Big Red caps the season by placing three riders in the top five at nationals. Rita Mizrahi (third in walk-trot), Gillian Pech (fifth in intermediate fences) and Laura Acker (fourth in novice fences). Head coach Chris Mitchell earns the National Horse Show Coaches Sportsmanship Award as voted on by the riders, coaches and volunteers. He was also named one of seven stewards for the show.
2005-06
Just two points shy of a perfect day in the ring, Cornell scores 47 team points to win the Cornell Invitational at Oxley Equestrian Center. The Big Red also wins its own home spring invitational and finishes second at the Ivy Show.
2006-07
The Big Red wins its own spring show, narrowly holding off zone champion Skidmore by one point.
2007-08
Zoe Samuel '10 placed 11th at nationals in Los Angles, Calif. in the novice flat class after qualifying by winning the Zone II Novice Flat Championships. She also was the regional novice flat champion.
2008-09
Cornell won the Ivy Show, one of four show titles during the season. The Big Red also won the top spot at shows at Morrisville and Hartwick, as well as its own spring competition. In all, the Big Red advanced five riders to the Zone II Championships.
2009-10
Cornell wins a pair of shows (Skidmore, Hartwick) en route to a regional reserve champion showing. Charmaine Tan qualified for the national horse show by winning the Zone 2 reserve walk trot spot.
2010-11
The Big Red wins its first-ever regular season regional championship after winning four shows during the season. Zofia Hilton (walk-trot) and Kelsey Craig (open flat) each qualified for nationals after earning the title of Zone II Reserve champions.
2011-12
Cornell repeated as the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association’s Region 2 champion, with Bronwyn Scrivens '12 becoming the Big Red's first Cacchione Cup winner for the high-point rider in the region. She went on to take 11th place at the USEF/Cacchione Cup events at the IHSA Nationals in Raleigh, N.C. Georgiana de Rham '15 also went to nationals and rode to a fifth-place finish in Intermediate Equitation Over Fences.
2012-13
Despite not winning the regional championship, the Big Red had another excellent season that saw the team reclaim the Ivy League Championship for the first time since 2009. Freshman Meridith Meyer had an incredible debut season, placing second the region and first in the zone as an individual and advancing to the IHSA national show in Open Flats. There, Meyer was named the Reserve Champion in the class, just Cornell's second ever Reserve Champion at nationals.
2013-14
Cornell once again won the region and sent six riders to the Zone 2 Championship, four of whom advanced to Nationals. As a junior, Georgiana de Rham finsihed sixth in the Cacchione Cup Finals.
2014-15
Under new head coach Johanna Novakovic '03, the Big Red once again claimed the Ivy League crown. At IHSA Championships, Shana Coffey took home the national title in Novice Fences. Four other Cornell riders qualified for Nationals after the team posted a dominant performance at the Zone 2 Championships. Georgiana de Rham concluded her time with Cornell with a fourth-place finish in the Cacchione Cup Finals, two spots better than the previous year.
2015-16
In the program's first ever trip to the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Nationals, the Big Red placed seventh out of 16 teams. The team also earned a regional regular season championship and had Reserve Champion finishes in Zone 2 and the Ivy League.
2016-17
The Big Red won the Ivy League championship after posting a perfect score while senior captain Victoria Whitworth was recognized as the High Point Rider. Three team members went on to compete at the IHSA Championships with Claira Seely and Laura Vasquez-Bolanos each netting top-10 finishes in their respective competitions.
2017-18
Cornell had yet another prosperous season, becoming the High Point Team at six different shows, capturing the regional title and winning the Ivy League Championship for the second-straight year. The team ultimately took fourth at Zones and junior Emily Selland qualified for the IHSA national championships where she placed 10th in Novice Individual Flat.
2018-19
For the second straight year, the Big Red earned the High Point Team status at six separate shows. The Big Red also captured its third straight Ivy League Championship, in addition to being crowned the regional champion as well. At Zones, the Big Red was the Reserve High Point Team. Overall on the season, Cornell was either the High Point Team or Reserve High Point Team in nine of the 11 shows it competed in.Â
2019-2020
The Big Red qualified eight riders for Zones and was on pace to reach great heights in 2020 before the remainder of the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Liza Pacchiana (limit flat) and Jenna Toor (introductory) were crowned IHSA Regional Champions in their respective events en route to qualifying for Zones. Jada Davis qualified for Zones in not just one, but two, events, as the senior was named the IHSA Regional Reserve Champion in both limit fences and intermediate flat. Lena Reeb (open fences), Haley Harder (intermediate fences), Lucia Younger (limit flat), Lara Carr (novice), and Hannah Braun (introductory) all qualified for Zones as well after being crowned IHSA Reserve Regional Champions.
