Power the USVI

Providing energy assistance to the U.S. Virgin Islands

Following Hurricane Irma and Maria, the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) are in imminent need of aid to help recover and rebuild. Getting power back to the USVI has proven to be extremely challenging for the government and local agencies.

Hurricane Irma alone destroyed 90 percent of the St. Thomas' power lines and 80 percent of its transformers - the power plant on St. Thomas also feeds St. John. The island of St. Croix is still operating with only 12 percent power.

Adrian Durant, The George Heekin '29 Head Coach of Men's Track and Field and Cross Country at Cornell and the head coach of the U.S. Virgin Islands national team, has partnered with the United Way to help Power The USVI. Your gift can help purchase much-needed generators to help continue the process of rebuilding.38945

BIG RED CHALLENGE 38941
All gifts can be made by associating them with student netids. The five students who raise the most money will travel to the U.S. Virgin Islands to see firsthand the power of their gifts and provide on-site assistance in the recovery.
