Junior (2012): For the second consecutive year,
Plappert was named the team's most improved player, earning the distinction after seeing another significant increase in playing time during her third season with the team. She played in 16 games, with 12 starts, and finished the year with two goals and three assists. Both goals and two of her three assists came during Ivy League play.Ā
Sophomore (2011): Plappert was named the team's most improved player following the 2011 season, earning the distinction after seeing a significant increase in playing time during her sophomore campaign with the team. She played in 16 games at midfield for the Big Red and earned a start against Lehigh.
Freshman (2010): Plappert saw action in seven games during her rookie season.
At Council Rock HS
Plappert was a four-year letter winner in field hockey at Council Rock high school. She graduated as the programās leader in career assists (34) and tied the school record for career points (102). As a senior captain, Plappert led her team in goals as Council Rock won the Suburban One League National Conference championship and advanced to the district playoffs for the third-straight season. She was named the leagueās Player of the Year, as well as first-team all-league. Plappert was named to the Pennsylvania HS FH Coaches Association first-team all-state and academic all-state team. She was also a
Philadelphia Inquirer first-team all-area selection, while the
Bucks County Courier Times named her the Golden Team Player of the Year. Plappert was also chosen to play in the Philadelphia All-Star Classic game. As a junior, she was named to the
Philadelphia Inquirer all-region honorable mention team and the
Bucks County Courier Times Golden Team first-team. Plappert was named all-league and second-team all-state, after garnering third-team all-league honors as a sophomore. Plappert was also a highly-decorated lacrosse player, earning four varsity letters, while running track for two years. A seven-year member of the Mystx Field Hockey club, she was the teamās leading scorer two seasons.
Personal
Ellyn Elizabeth Plappert is the daughter ofĀ James andĀ DianeĀ Plappert and she has one older brother and sister, as well as a younger sister. Her father attended Cornell, while her cousin Thomas Scott played lacrosse for the Big Red. Her cousin Katherine Scott played field hockey for Harvard, while her cousin Whitney Davis Neil played collegiate basketball. She is enrolled in the College of Engineering.
